Chapter 82: LXXXII. Unexpected Visit.

When Vanilla left the basement and walked through the living room to go upstairs and hide the Scorpion armor, what she found was Carol and the four exterminators drinking wine and eating sandwiches, with Swing music playing on the wooden radio. 

"As I was telling you," Carol spoke, sitting on Lugus' armchair with a glass of wine and a cigarette in each hand. Her cheeks were graffitied by the redness of alcohol. "this place is difficult to maintain. If we aren't dealing with infestations then it's humidity, broken pipes, the electrical system failing, or weeds ruining the yards... Oh, Vanilla, there you are." 

Just when Vanilla was about to disappear up the stairs, her step-mother halted her way. Sigh and she was drunk, the worst of all.

"I see you are done with the basement. You really took so long. What are you carrying with you right there?" Carol asked. The four men in green uniforms fixated their eyes on her.
