"Aelin, this is wrong. You need to write the sentence this way."
The act of holding the fountain pen and moving my hand to form the letters was a foreign feeling for me and had ended up making my writing look weird.
The Young Lady just smiled and continued teaching me despite my failure to write even a single sentence.
"Aelin you are learning really fast! For you to be able to do this much in just a week is amazing. I'm so glad Ashbel allowed me to teach you. It's quite fun to teach others."
It's weird for a noble girl to say that teaching a commoner is fun. She's definitely got a few crazy quirks.
'I'm surprised that the boy allowed her to do this in the first place.'
So you're awake. Help me a bit will you?
'Nope. It's boring. I'd rather sleep than stare at those weird symbols.'
I don't care if it's boring. At least stay awake during the lessons.
Answer me oi! You went to sleep again? Damn it!
"I think we should stop here for today," she says, looking at the clock on the wall.
"Ah yes. Thanks for the lesson milady." Glancing at the clock I realise that it's already time for dinner. I quickly bow to her and leave the study hall after she exits closing the door behind me.
After reaching my room, I sit at the desk and look through the things taught today waiting for my dinner to digest.
I never expected the Young Lady herself to teach me the language and writing. Those two siblings are really weird. I thought that the boy would object to her reckless idea but he surprisingly agreed. On top of that, he even told her to only teach me during the evening after she finished her own lessons and she was not allowed to skip any class if she wanted to teach me.
He also shows up in the beginning of class everytime to make sure she's not goofing off. Why go to such extent? Since all the other duties of a maid are taught to me by Miss Daisy. Surely she could have also taught me the language?
'Those two are truly weird. You better keep your guard up.'
How long have you been awake?
'Since you started reviewing your notes. Isn't the symbol for that letter different?'
Oh it is. Why can't you just help me like this during the lesson. I won't make so many mistakes then.
'You doubt yourself too much. You know the letters perfectly but hesitate to confidently write it thus your mistakes.'
I could only remain silent. I knew what she meant.
"Aelin sweetie come here." A small child runs to her mother, crashing into her embrace. The woman laughs, and lifts the child to sit beside her on the old rickety chair.
"Mama what's this?" The girl curiously looks at the black board of wood in front of her.
"This is called a writing board. Do you want to have fun with me, my dear?"
"Yes! Aelin wants to play with Mama. What will we play?"
"We will play with this board. Let me show it to you." Her hands gently lift the board and she takes a small white stick.
"See you take this chalk and do this!" She draws a line.
"Waaah! Mama, Aelin has never seen this before! Let me play too."
'How long to do plan to space out for?'
was that a memory…?
'Yeah it was. I can only gather fragments of memories at a time. You will remember those pieces bit by bit.'
So you remember the letters…
'Because YOU have learnt them before. Though it was only a few letters at most.'
I see. I guess this is why I felt nostalgic during classes.
'So are you done yet? I want to sleep.'
Fine fine. Geez you just sleep most of the time. You better not sleep during class tomorrow or I'll be bored to death.
'Ok ok I won't sleep during the class tomorrow. Can you just sleep now? I'm tired.'
At the other-me's urging, I got ready for bed.
As soon as I laid down on the bed, the day's fatigue hit me at full force and knocked me out.
