Chapter 47: It was that smile

Eve shook Victor's shoulder, but that didn't cause any reaction from him. Eve shook harder, and just when she was ready to get ammoniac, Victor stirred.

His eyelids twitched, and a small groan left his mouth. Seeing him waking, Eve remembered his dirty dreams again, and it made her stand up and step back from him. She didn't block his ability to read thoughts—both because of its usefulness and because of the health concerns—but now she wished she did. It would be impossible to keep the whole embarrassing scene from Victor, even if he himself forgot about the dream.

Slowly, as if it took him a lot of effort, Victor's eyes opened. He tried to sit up, but only managed to prop himself on his elbows. A couple seconds later they gave up on him and he fell back on the pillow.
