Chapter 149: New life

After the decision had been made, it took several more days for everyone to prepare for the journey towards Eve and Victor's future home. Again, there weren't a lot of things to gather, but there was a need to refill supplies, to check on the cars, and to find a truck to move Klein in.

The bear was disconcerted at first when he realised his owners were moving out again, but calmed down when Victor told him in words (and probably in thoughts too) that they were taking him with them.

It was hard to say goodbye to the cabin again. Abandon the garden before anything had time to grow in it, abandon all the adjustments made to the building… Still, Eve did so with no more hesitations. She had something else to strive for, to look forward to. She grew into the habit of touching her stomach when she thought about her future child, trying to feel for the baby bump that was still months away from existing.
