Chapter 49: On the move again

The corners of Victor's lips curved into a small smile. "Yes. As for the place you were thinking about, it would be close enough to our route."

Eve sagged back in her seat. "Good."

Her eyes didn't leave Victor. There was a heavy, meaningful look in them, but no thoughts had crossed her mind. It was just a moment of wordless silence and understanding between the two of them, a moment of secrets shared, if involuntarily. But now, with that look, Eve was giving Victor a silent permit to have them.

As it often was with her, it was the first for him. Victor didn't speak his gratitude aloud, but he sent it to her with a long, telling look of his own.
