In mere moments, the chaos that had stopped when Eve began her cyber-attack on Nexus had started again, if only on that small patch of the wall where Victor was. Everything was a mad mix of blasts and bodies that Victor needed to navigate somehow or suffer.
While he rushed for the Third Eye, the hexapods turned on the zombies. The robots, led by their advanced tactical algorithms, identified zombies as the highest threats. The Third Eye's mask was in the database of hexapods' targets, too, but for machines he was almost powerless.
They weren't programmed with telepaths in mind. For them, the Third Eye was simply an enhanced human. Zombies, on the other hand, were a real problem. They were that for Victor, too.
They didn't even let him close to the Third Eye, forcefully dragging him into the melee with them. Three hexapods weren't enough to suppress them quickly.
As did our chests – earth's hollows trembled;
The steeds, the men all disassembled,
And cannon volleys' sound resembled
A moaning o'er the land...

On unrelated note. Have you heard about new Win-Win? Basically, rewards now come from unlocked Privilege chapters, not from Privileged readers. I wish it was possible for EotD to reach even a smallest prise amount in June, 2000 unlocks, but it doesnt seem very real as of now. That would require me to have 66 Privilege readers unlocking my chapters instead of current 2... Ah-ha-ha.
