"We've been - "
"Kidnapped? I know" Damon interrupted her, unwilling to hear further.
He felt guilty, she wasn't supposed to be in this mess in the first place if had let her be. Damon wasn't stupid not to figure out that he was the target of the kidnappers, Nessa was just a bonus - buy one, get one free sort of a thing. This was the payback for hanging out with him: another disturbing experience added to the list of nightmares haunting her.
He understood why she was claustrophobic, her mom told him during the little time they spent together when Nessa fainted in the elevator.
The girl had been kidnapped when she was eight years old, she was kept in a tiny room for weeks without company before she was located.
Ever since then, she would pass out being in a small confined space. Damon knew Nessa had a huge ego, so he decided to play dumb, refusing to reveal the fact he had an idea of the story behind her phobia. If he said anything about that, she would probably think he was feeling pity for her and wouldn't like a bit of it.
"Is there any source of escape?" Nessa asked calmly but he could sense the hint of panic beneath her tone. She was trying to play it tough.
But as usual, Damon pretended to be annoyed by her stupid question.
"Don't you know how to access your brain? Why would our abductors leave us with an escape route? Do you think this is a prank?"
"And why do you always have to be so rude? It's just a question" Nessa shot him a displeased glare but when she saw his apathetic look, she huffed and strode away.
Well, well, at this rate, they would be stuck here for eternity.
