The train ride to Hogwarts was going smoothly for the group. But was about to be interrupted by the Marauders.
The Marauders were holding a grudge to Charles and his friends. Each of them had their year with nothing but inconvenience.
Sirius started his first day at Hogwarts receiving howlers from his Oh- So- Great- Of- A- Mother. While also getting more detentions than an average Gryffindor student. This fact also added to his mother's rage towards him.
James was opposite of him, having a blast the first day he got to Hogwarts. He has been popular to the Gryffindor girls and boys but until he was ignored and called an 'arrogant toerag' by his crush. He hated Charles and Severus for being too close to Lily.
Remus being a werewolf, he hated every full moon. If only it was possible to curse the moon, he would do it as it was the only thing that could make him feel safe. Self-loathing only got it worse for him, until he got his trusty friends who swore to help and find a cure for his lycanthropy.
While Peter being Peter, he was the supposed black sheep of the group. He was even thinking if they only kept him for being their roommates. He felt insecure.
"We should just bomb them now! I brought a dungbomb!" said Sirius, while taking the four dungbomb he bought earlier from his pocket.
"Wait! Are you serious?" asked Peter.
Remus stared at Sirius, thinking it was a foolish idea to have. "No, you risk them retaliating at us. You know they come and go, we wouldn't even know they are coming. They have eyes in the sky. Their cursed familiars scouting around the castle, waiting for us to ambush."
"That is why we should strike now! We should get our revenge, they'll never know what hit them." explained James expressing his side of the matter.
"You know that they will come for me, right? James? Sirius?" asked Peter, looking back and forth to James and Sirius.
Sirius leaned forward, smiling like it reassured Peter's worries. He pat Peter's shoulder. "Don't worry, we have your back," he said. Looking at the other two, "Right, Remus, James,"
Peter can only nod and sigh, he was the easiest target for the Snake trio. Yes, that's what they call Charles, Severus, and Zach.
As they were prominent for pranking other houses, earning themselves the 'Marauders' name. The trio from Slytherin was also like them, but more dangerous, they attack everyone; no discrimination, even ghosts suffer from them.
Readying themselves, the Marauders stepped out of their cabin and scoured the entire second year floor. Finally, they have found their target, they armed their wands and each having a dungbomb in hand.
Without warning, they rushed and opened the door of the compartment. What they saw shocked them to their core, they saw their targets having wands pointed at them.
Before they can even get out of the way, they were welcomed by various jinxes and hexes. The dungbomb they had in hand exploded in their faces. The door was shut before the dungbomb even exploded.
"Hey, Lily! check out my patronus," Charles said. He casted the patronus charm. A corporeal silvery crow came out of the wand.
The crow flew around the cabin, then landed on Lily's shoulder.
"Wow! how cute! Tell me, how did you do it?" asked Lily.
Charles smiled. "It's called the patronus charm, invented to fight against the dementors. The incantation is 'Expecto Patronum', when casting the spell, one should recall or imagine their happiest memory for it to form."
Lily nodded at the explanation provided by Charles. She tried casting the charm. "Expecto Patronum!" she casted, while trying to recall her happiest memory. "Why wouldn't it work?"
"Maybe try someone you love, or something, anything that makes you remember your happiest day. I practiced mine by thinking of my Mother, and it worked, so you try." encouraged Charles.
"Okay... but it's so difficult, controlling emotions are so hard," she said as she puffed her cheeks.
Charles' face went red, seeing Lily's cute expression. "You should not... do that,"
Lily raised an eyebrow. "Do what?"
Charles turned his face. "Nothing, you should practice more, if you succeed, I'll teach you something amazing."
Lily continued to practice the charm in the cabin. While Charles' patronus went back to him. "Guys," he alerted everyone, "My patronus warned me someone's about to attack us,"
The warning got his friends' attention, they pulled out their wands and pointing it on the door. Moments later, they saw the cabin's door open.
"Flipendo" casted Charles while aiming at the dungbomb in Peter's hand. They rained the marauders different kinds of jinxes and hexes. Though they have code they uphold; to never curse unless needed.
Severus casted a levitation charm and closed the door. A second later, the train corridor smelled rats pee and shit in them. Lily charmed the room, the air outside never coming in the compartment.
"That was awesome!" said Zach.
Charles laughed. "I should've brought a camera, their faces were picture perfect!" he said while laughing at the marauders expense.
What quidditch position do you think suits Charles?
