Chapter 10: Wait—Stay Calm
Reaper stared at me with eyes colder than steel.
He raised his weapon.
"Let me test this blade on you, just once."
"W-Wait, don't—!"
*BOOM*
A glowing portal exploded beneath my feet.
"The hell...? What did you just think of, kid?!" Reaper blinked, startled.
"It... wasn't me!!!"
*POP!*
"MY BUTT—YOU LITTLE BRAT!!!" Reaper roared, his voice echoing with pain.
I blinked.
The world around us had changed.
It was in ruins.
Dead quiet.
Dust in the wind.
And then—
*ROOOOOAR*
A giant war machine thundered into view, launching missiles right at us.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Reaper yelled, whipping his blade.
*SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!*
He sliced through the missiles mid-air. They exploded like fireworks in the sky.
*CLAP. CLAP. CLAP.*
A slow clap echoed.
"Well done, well done... Can you handle this next one?"
A barrage of bullets fired straight toward Reaper.
And me?
I was already running like hell.
"Hey! Use your thinking ability, damn it—wait, where'd that kid go?!"
A distorted voice called out:
"Die... and become another part of the experiment."
