Chu Tianye didn't want to cause trouble for Su Yan. 

He had encouraged Su Yan to participate in this program with the hope of letting Mother Su and Father Su see Su Yan's shining qualities and recognize her as their daughter. That's why he had pressured Mother Su into acknowledging Su Yan's status as the Su family's daughter. 

However, he didn't expect things to escalate to this point.
