Chapter 333: Funeral procession

In the older generation, corpses were kept at home; some for seven days, others for three, and some even for as long as forty-nine days.

However, cremation is now practiced, and generally, the funeral takes place three days after death.

Counting the day of death as one day, it means the body is cremated two days later. I put on a black suit and quietly sat there watching, bowing and crying in the mourning hall as visitors came.

They were either calling out "auntie" or "great-aunt."

And saying things like...

"How could you leave us, how could you die, how could you leave the children behind and go?" and so on.

After the villagers had visited, it was the turn of the townspeople. It seemed that everyone whom Grandma had helped appeared. My expression was very indifferent...

Even those who Grandma had pleaded with to borrow a car and who had refused came too.

They say history is always repeating itself.

I wonder if one day, when I need help, no one will be willing to assist me.
