Memories from the past have flooded through the brains of Luke as droplets started to fall down to his feet.
He will never forget the kindness that Mark had given him. By rescuing him from the God-forsaken place and placing him into a gorgeous villa in which there is everything he ever wanted.
Luke is just a simple man, he just wants a simple life. But the world didn't want to give him the life he wants. He endured everything that went his way, he couldn't fight, no way. The only reason is still alive is because of his smarts.
He was able to outsmart the beast and run away.
His life was excruciating that he wanted to quit, a good thing he didn't since he met Mark and saved him from what is called 'nothingness'.
He always wanted to repay the debt he received from Mark but didn't know what to do. Luckily the hunter association developed a machine that can forcefully awaken a person.
Luke didn't awaken from the energy blast that happened 10 years ago and so he didn't get the chance to help Mark even a little bit, but now he can.
After opening his eyes, he found something quite strange.
There's some kind of a blue transparent screen hovering in front of him. No matter where he goes the hovering screen also follows him.
He has been going around the room for a full 15 minutes.
He got tired of going around in circles and so he decided to look what is the screen hovering in front of him.
Name: Luke D. Hawks
"Is this for real?!" Luke shouted not because of excitement but because of a disappointment
A frown slowly appeared on his face.
"I'm a Failure," Luke said as he slowly felt dizzy afterward and collapsed without warning.
As Luke slowly opens his eyes, he was confronted by pain in the back of his head.
"Hey don't get up too fast there yet" a familiar voice rang out when a door opened
"Who else would it be, you dummy," Mark said with a casual laugh.
"Let's get to the point, what happened? Why were you collapsed on the floor earlier?" Mark then changed his expression to a more serious one, which made Luke jump back a little that then caused his head to hurt again.
"Hey, I said chill down. I'm just asking you a question." Mark's face turned into a more worrying expression.
"Umm, M-maybe it's a side effect from the device that forcefully awakens a person, after awakening, I felt dizzy then I collapsed."
"Is that so? Maybe that's really the reason."
"Drink this medicine I brought you, I'll just do something quickly and I'll come back," Mark said while walking towards the door.
"What is it?"
"Umm, do hunters have screens show up in their faces that show their job?" Luke asked with an embarrassed look. He was still not sure if what he has seen is normal to other hunters.
"Of course not silly, they just instinctively know. Maybe you've just been reading too many novels lately. Just use this time to rest. I'll be going now."
"haha, y-yeah I m-might have been reading too many novels. Thanks."
As Mark was leaving the room, if you were to focus on him, you would see a smile crept up to him before closing the door.
'Am I the only one who has this kind of thing in front of my face' Luke pondered but then he remembered something important.
"Where did the screen grow"
Luke used his time figuring how to use the system before Mark returned.
He figured out that he can just think of the system and it will appear in front of his face.
He decided to see the things that were written in the system. What surprised him the most is that he had a middle initial which is 'D.' Luke never really remembers much before the apocalypse began. He made a mental note to find what the 'D' is.
The next thing that really intrigues him and what made him faint earlier is his job.
His job was a freaking writer. what can he do with being a writer? He could only sigh and accept what was given to him.
The next one is the ink, what is the ink that is written in the system? what does it do? All sorts of questions popped into his head, but what truly intrigues him the most is that it is blank.
No value unlike the others, nothing.
Lastly is the remark since he kind of understands why his skills are detailed as none. The remark is hidden, Might it have a secret meaning? A powerful manifestation? He was excited to know what is inside of the hidden info.
When he tried focusing on the remark, a message popped out.
[You have low authority, level up to gain more]
'Low on authority ey? hmmm...'
If he just increases his level he might find what the remark is.
A beam of hope has been cast, but not before long, he stopped.
'I can freaking level up'
'Hunters can't level up, it has never been done before, or... maybe they do level up but they can't see it since they don't have a system'
'Yes, that must be it, I know it'
Luke is jumping with joy, with the novels he had been reading, he knows that his stat will increase when he levels up.
'So what if my job is a writer, if I can level up just like any other hunter, I'll become strong too'
Mark had now opened the door and saw Luke jumping like crazy.
"Your body forgot that you've been injured huh?"
When the words exited the mouth of Mark, sudden pain enveloped Luke's body like thunder.
He fainted once again but now he was caught by Mark and was placed on his bed.
