Chapter 4: You Chose What?

He extended both his hands and shot two mana blasts, and they were aimed at the wound that he had opened a while ago.

The wound got hit with the blasts as the boss let a loud screech out and fell onto its back.

---

###System Notification###

---

[User Ragnar has slain the boss monster.]

[The Tutorial Ends.]

---

A small smirk curled up on Leon's face as he muttered under his breath. "Perfect."

The moment Leon got the pop-up from the system that the tutorial was now over, a small sigh escaped through his lips as he lifted both his arms up in the air and stretched them.

His voice came low but firm. "Well, that was a good run, I hope that I get some good rewar—" The echo of the system's new text chimed inside his brain, which made him stop talking.

---

[You cleared the tutorial single-handedly.]

[You received the title: The One Who Walks Alone (Elite).]

[Effect: +25% Agility when facing multiple enemies alone.]

---

His eyes widened slightly as he stared at the panel that was hovering in the air in front of his eyes. His voice came low, shocked. "Wh-What... are you for real? One more title, and on top of that, it is elite like the previous one?"

Another panel appeared in front of his eyes:

---

[You cleared the tutorial in its true ending.]

[You get the title: True Path Initiate (Legendary).]

[Effect: +5 to all base stats.]

---

Leon's feet started to tremble as his eyes stayed stuck on the panel in front of him, hands started to shake aggressively as sweat formed on his forehead. "What the fuck!?"

His breathing turned ragged as he wiped his sweat with the back of his hand; he continued. "Is this thing glitchy? Did I rig the game or something else like that?"

---

[The tutorial is now over, teleporting the User Ragnar to the Mage Tower.]

---

His body started to turn white as slow mist particles flew around him, then the surroundings next to him changed completely, and he found himself inside a huge building.

The inside of it was made with white stone; the stone had gold engravings on it, there were tall windows, and from them the sunlight was coming inside the giant hall, as it filled the light.

In the center of the room, there was a beautiful woman, wearing a white dress, and a long cloak was tucked on her back and going down to her feet. Her eyes were green, her hair was white, and her gaze was locked onto Leon.

A small smile curled up on his lips as his voice came deep. "Hello, dear miss. Why am I summoned here?" His tone was sharp, eyes scanned the room slowly, keeping his guard up.

She slowly lifted her hand and flicked her fingers, and a hologram appeared in the air representing six towers. She said calmly, "Novice Ragnar, you're here to choose your destiny."

She then pointed towards the hologram and continued, "There are a total of six mage towers."

She then pointed towards the first one. "This is the fire tower, one of the best towers out there, and their way of using magic is a bit aggressive."

Then she pointed towards the second tower. "This is the water tower, known for its calmness and friendly behavior."

Then she pointed towards three towers. "These three are Ice, Earth, and Wind. Most mages in those towers are arrogant — let me repeat my words, Novice Ragnar. Most of them are arrogant, not all."

And then at last she pointed at the final tower. "This is the dark tower. It's not known for anything; they lost their prowess ages ago, and now they're last on the list."

She then looked at Leon, her gaze scanned him from top to bottom, her voice came low. "So, what do you want to choose, Novice Ragnar?"

She took a small pause as a small smile curled up on her lips and continued, "I know it'll be fire or wate—"

Leon's voice came before she could even finish. He crossed his arms next to his chest and said with a confident look in his eyes, "I want to choose Dark-Mage Tower."

Her jaw dropped, her eyes widened, and she put her fingers inside her ears and shook them violently. Her voice came out loud, shocked. "What do you mean? You want to choose the worst tower!?"

Leon looked at her with a small grin on his face. "Yes, I want to choose that. You look shocked, as if all the other new mages chose either fire or water, right?"

She wiped her forehead, cleaning the sweat off it. "You're correct, who'll choose the worst thing out there and ruin their career?"

His voice came out low as he stretched his fingers. "You have to take risks to be the best, yeah?"

A small chuckle escaped her lips as she flicked her fingers. "Let's see if that confidence of yours is just a bluff or something else."

The moment she finished talking, Leon's body got teleported from that huge chamber; the place he appeared in now was the dark tower.

They were made out of black obsidian; the windows were tall, but the frames were made with bones. There was a huge tree inside the main chamber in which Leon was standing.

The tree had a bunch of skeletons hanging on its branches, a bunch of skeleton heads and bones scattered around its roots.

He was scanning his surroundings, but then a voice came from his side. His head moved instantly in the direction from which it came.

"Hey."

A woman stood there next to a door. Her hair was purple. He looked into her eyes, which were the same color as her hair. She was around the height of five-foot-four inches, one of her hands was resting on her waist, and her eyes were fixed on Leon.

She took a few steps towards him, closing their distance by a few meters, and her voice came loud but firm. "Hey, you're the one who joined us today?"

Leon smiled as he gave a polite nod in agreement to her words; his voice came soft but deep. "Yes, I'm Ragnar, and you?"

She pouted as she leaned slightly towards him. Her voice came low. "I'm Synthia. Synthia Everfrost. And call me senior, I'm of a higher rank than you."
