Timere who was pretending to be busy on his laptop raised his head slowly as Progress walked up to him, he felt like he was in a trance because he didn't expect her to approach him.
Progress subconsciously walked closer to Timere, when she realized herself it was already too late to turn back.
"Hi kook," she mumbled with a wave.
He beamed and his perfect set of dentitions glittered like sparkling water, "hi...." He said in almost a whisper.
"Is this seat taken? " Progress asked in her usual syrupy voice. But Timere didn't reply because his face seemed to be frozen in a smiley mood. [ Here we go again, kook. ]
"By all means please seat, " Timere said finally after he broke out of his daydream but he didn't stop smiling.
Progress sat, somehow Timere's smile was infectious and she found herself smiling back at him. They both resisted gazing into each other's eyes and busied themselves with the menu in front of them.
Finally, Progress couldn't hold it in anymore, "Woah! You should try advertising for Colgate toothpaste, your smile is beautiful. " She rang as a blush crept into her cheeks.
"Sorry, I can't help myself," Timere uttered. "I can't believe you still want to talk to me after I disrespected you that night." The smile on his face vanished instantly as he spoke.
Progress was shocked by his sudden change of manifestation, he went from beaming to frowning. "I should be the one apologizing, you were right the snake indeed belonged to the first lady... I just remembered how we met and what you asked, I thought wrong of you am sorry." She uttered and looked away, all the time she spent at home fixing her house made her feel like it was karma paying her for her actions from the past night.
"No, no please don't apologize I was the one who ruined it all and am sorry, I should have never approach in the manner I did so don't apologize, you were just thinking about your safety," Timere said, his angelic voice rung out like an endless melody.
Progress, "I guess you are right but why did you ask for my house address, that was kind of disturbing for me. "
Timere wished in his heart that she had not asked, it was the one question he least prepared to answer, "I thought you were an old friend of mine that I lost contact with." He lied through his teeth.
Progress gave him a questioning look even if what he was saying was true how he approached her was rather alarming.
"Sure...if you say so. Just don't do that to someone else, their reaction might be worst than mine." She muttered.
"I won't" He uttered, smiling with both eyes and mouth. Progress again found her face heating up under his gaze, never in her life had she blushed so much in a space of five minutes. "I am Timere by the way, what's your name."
"Progress Johnson, it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance." She said with an outstretched hand.
Timere also stretched his hand out to receive hers but paused when he saw a lingering red mark on her neck that was exposed when she stretched out. He unconsciously lifted his free hand touched the spot but Progress retracted as she felt goosebumps on the spot he touched. "It's nothing serious, just my allergies." She articulated.
Timere deadpanned, "Please let me touch it, I am quite experienced with injuries." He boomed.
Progress thought for a while before she allowed Timere to touch her again. Strangely, she felt more comfortable with him now and there was no way he could hurt her publicly. Deep down she also longed for his touch after their handshake, maybe it was just her way of apologizing for the previous night.
Timere moved his chair closer to her and continued massaging her neck, he had a grave expression on his face like he was conducting brain surgery. He could already guess how she got the marks and he felt horrible, it was all his fault for not noticing the signs of his shift. Progress didn't know why she didn't push the stranger away but the icy touch of his fingertips somehow brought her comfort and she smiled within her at his facial expressions. She was wearing a turtleneck dress that concealed the marks she inflicted on herself from the previous night.
Their public display of affection attracted many spectators in the restaurant as they could no longer concentrate on their food and were now watching their newfound reality tv show. Progress and Timere felt their neck piercing gaze but they ignored them. For Timere he felt like this was his only means of supporting his mate by using his freezing powers to heal her wounds. As for Progress she simply couldn't bring herself to push away the giver of the soothing feeling she was getting and she didn't care about her new fans.
In the far end of the large restaurant sat a man who had been waiting for his friend to remember him, he finally had enough and approached the love birds that seemed not to care about their surroundings. He had been sitting there for over 20 minutes hoping that his friend would remember their appointment but she wasn't even looking in his direction, something in him warned him not to go closer but he couldn't sit and watch anymore.
"Hey P. J, care to introduce me to your boyfriend? " Evans asked with crossed arms.
Progress's shut in his direction and she immediately pushed Timere's hands from her neck, "Evans! Am so sorry I forget...he is not my boyfriend we just met." She said and looked away.
"Sure...but you have been letting him touch you so intimately," Evans answered, he stared at her with narrowed eyes.
Timere was muted because he was fighting a spiritual battle___ Evans's dragon spirit was attacking his chimera... But the owner seemed oblivious
