And when you finally found someone you were told that you were no longer on modern day Earth with a quarter of the population being transported and the planet was now dominated with Magic wielding alien race called Saurians.

When the Saurians discovered the newly arrived inhabitants of the planet, they started persecuting the humans.

When Jin found that they were no longer in modern day Earth and were being persecuted by magic wielding Saurians, he would usurp the power of magic to build a place for the humans.
