A beautiful story with a beautiful ending⦠never give up on your dreams and if your lucky enough to find that one person that makes your life brighter, hold on and do everything in your power to appreciate that person.
this is one of the absolute best stories I've read on this site great character progression the romance/ build up to romance actually feels genuine the combat in detailed and exciting its one of the very few novels i find myself coming back to read again
Cuttlefish is Cuttlefish. Wonderful writing, interesting world, believable characters. I am gratified to have found this writer to be able to catch up on several finished novels they have.
This is an interesting mix of contemporary, urban, alternative reality, romance, martial arts, fantasy... a real hodgepodge of genres that probably won't work for everyone. Focus shifts mainly between fighting and romance and both are well written. Honestly, the hardest part in this novel for me was to take a world where kungfu is real seriously. I was more ready to accept planet-sized Cthulhu gods and post-apocalyptic superpowers than this. Thankfully I reached the point where the MC starts getting magic powers which made the fighting scenes more believable for me (hehe) and I'm able to enjoy the story without reservations. Having mentioned the MC - he is less interesting than Klein or Shangjiao (can't be bothered to check the names, hope didn't butcher them) but has a naivete and earnestness to him that fits well with a young martial arts student story.
Summary - typical Cuttlefish story, maybe not for everyone, but very well written and well worth the time if you can get into it. An easy recommendation for anyone who likes martial arts, romance or novels different from the usual cultivation claptrap.
One of the best stories I read so far.
Sadly it ended without further stories.
I hope to read it more and hope the couple's children could be the leading figures of the next generation of martial artists in their own stories.
Translation quality fluctuateS wildly and is Very poor in some areas. Descriptions of fights are broken Up with very fragmented english. characters are fine, but overall story progrssion unde goes many major timeSkips.
OnE of my all time favorite novels.
Honestly a lot of information given but hastily but it gave the story its own appeal.
I do belIeve however that i am biased since i have followed tgis story From thE cery beginning so donβt take my words to heart and read for yourself.
This book is really good. one the free hidden gems in webnovel. Nothing over the top, pacing And storyline is well matched, character development is absolutely the best. Really recommend it
I Loooveee this book!!! I fell in love with martial art while reading this book. The author deserves applaud. Do try read this book if you come across it because you would enjoy it and you don't need to find martial art interesting before you fall in love with the story.ππ₯°π€
This book is definitely one of the best here. its very realistic and not over the top. Character builds are great and very real, relationships are Very solid. The flow is also good without any of the longwinded fillers.
Done reading.
I liked the fact that the novel didn't evolved into international competitions, especially as the setting is on earth. Also the fact that other countries problems are their own. π€·ββοΈ
Anyway, I like the romance, the side characters' personalities (especially that one friend who distanced himself because of jealousy..idk it made it real for me).
But the ending seems rushed? or is it just because there seems to be soo many time jumps at the end? π€ Anyway, I'd love to see the group's reaction the his username reveal. hahaha like Road to Arena's, Fist's and Unparalled Dragon King's. Ohh and Eternal Nightfall too. π€£π€£π€£
Probably the most realistic romance in any story ever. I'm kind of happy that it ended at the point it did, even if I felt like it could have gone for another 100 chapters or more. The action scenes were great and the struggles of the main character felt very real. His rivalries and friendships were stellar throughout. The writing quality is above and beyond most of the novels you see on this site.
This is without a doubt the best wuxia I've read.
After having read the whole story, I was annoyed that no one mentioned if the translation got better or not in the beginning.
Translation Quality:
First 50 chapters = 7.5/10
From 50 - 346 = 4.5/10. Some chapters are perfectly fine and readable but some look like they are MTL. The flow and words that the translator uses is pretty awkward sometimes but all in all its all understandable
From 346 - 753 = 8+/10. From chapter 346 they received a new editor "Lucas" which honestly, for me, saved it as I was close to dropping it due to the quality. After around chapter 400ish "Lucas" is no longer editing it, but the translation and editing quality is still pretty good. The last few hundred chapters are translated and edited by "Labre Studios" and its also good translation.
Now on to the story review.
Pros:
- Different from a lot of novels on this site so it's pretty refreshing to read
-No young master face slapping
-No harem
-Nice side characters
-Plot armor isn't that huge
-The world acknowledges the MC's power. No random people messing with the MC to then have their whole clan annihilated.
Cons:
-Too many competitions. The whole story revolves around competitions and tournaments/leagues, kind of like football but for martial arts.
-Pacing is wank. The first couple of hundred chapters was like 1 or 2 competitions that went super slow. It does get better though but it can get boring due to this.
-Cultivation/Power system is weird and doesn't really make much sense/ isn't explained well, especially the later ranks.
-Ending was ok but abrupt, I'm not gonna spoil or explain that further, you will need to read it to know.
All in all while I liked the novel overall I think had the translation/editor and the pacing of the story been better at the beginning I would of liked it a lot more.
my favourite ML of all time ππππππ Cheng's EQ is high. Been reading a lot of novels but nobody could beat this novel's ML. the story is well rounded, fast paced and sometimes funny. great author and translator ππππ
Such a wholesome novel.
it had everything a reader (male mc version) needs.
action, growth, crush, love, pain, disappointments, perseverance, goals, triumph.
the major point of attraction for me in this novel is the slice of life elements than the battle abilities/cultivation parts .
i wish many people to read this and feel how fulfilling doing that was, like how I feel now.
great job author π
thank you translator for bringing this gem to us and perfectly conveyed the meanings in a way which english readers to understand.
hats off to both of you
chap 214 - If U are a fan of martial arts and romance U will enjoy this.. for me a drawback is too much romance lol if u are just falling in love u will enjoy it ...
Very nice read! Weak to strong not too OP mc. Sweet romance. Some good humor. This story deserves 5/5 stars.
p.s. Story ended a bit abruptly while having a lot of potential. But I'm still satisfied. This is way better than dragging the story while dropping the quality. It happens very often but luckily not this time.
Poor traNslation quality with a very slow Beginning. i really tried to give it a shot but it just wouldnt click. It doesNt read smoothly Due to poor trAnslating. should be rated lower if anyone reads this
I think this book is pretty cool. Like martial arts π± Woah, yo thatβs hard to write about ya know?? This is wonderfully written, I think itβll be my favorite Action bk:)
