"Ayo"
"Ayo"
"Ayo!"
~smack!~
"Uhh..."
With a smack on his back, Ayo groggily roused from his daze. His vision was still blurry, making it hard to identify who stood before him. However, the voice seemed younger, different from Shola's. It had a hint of youth to it.
"Uh? Who are you?" He inquired, his tone tinged with rudeness, as he stood up shirtless.
"Put on some clothes, will you?!" She exclaimed, averting her gaze.
She was dressed in a short tank that barely covered her chest, exposing her chiseled abs and muscular arms. Even her boxer shorts revealed her well-toned legs. Ayo found it hard not to stare.
~whoosh~
Seeing him gawking, she delivered a swift high kick in his direction. Reacting on instinct, he dodged, capturing her leg gently, his hand trailing down to her knee.
"To what do I owe the pleasant visit of a beauty like you..."
'...I have never thought about it, but how can black women be so beautiful? From the lady in the hallway back at home, to my aunt, and now to her...'
"Are you crazy? Who are you calling beauty?!"
~wham~
~Thud!~
With a deft move, she flipped and kicked him in the face, sending him sprawling. He crashed into a small shelf a few meters away.
"I heard you lost your memory. Seeing that you just called your worst enemy a beauty, it is indeed true. I had thought it was just one of your tactics to draw pity to yourself." She glared down at him and left.
"huh? Mommy? Perhaps my aunt's... my cousin?" Ayo stood up, attempting to make sense of the situation.
"Ah..." He touched his back, experiencing a sharp pain, an aftereffect of her kick. His face was swollen, too.

"What is this?... does this have something to do with what you said yesterday? Are you trying to force me against my will?"
"Fine, let's see how well that works out for you..." Ayo said when he received no response from the system. He walked out and joined both Shola and her daughter at the dining table.
"Oh my God? What happened?!" Shola, seeing Ayo, left her seat and ran to him, gently touching his swollen cheek as she reached him.
"That was what he gets for being a pervert..." Dara responded as she served tea and dished the fried egg sauce onto the plates.
"Seriously, Dara? You know what he has been through, why do you keep hurting him every time he comes here?"
"Seriously? Mom! He is not the only one who lost someone. I lost my Dad that day too, you know?! But ever since I can remember, it has always been him, your sister's son. Ayo this! Ayo that!! Every fucking time, Mom, every fucking time!" She slapped the table with her last word and walked away.
Her mother stared at her blankly, not sure how to respond to what just happened.
"Don't worry, Ayo... she's just throwing tantrums."
"It seems like I forgot a lot... your husband is dead too?"
"Let's not talk about that..." she responded to Ayo's question, her gaze falling to the ground.
"Ah, I see... I will talk to her..." Ayo said and smiled as he walked away to the room.
~knock~
~knock~
He knocked on her door.
"I'm not talking right now, Mom, just leave me alone!" She shouted from inside her room.
"Ahem, it is I... Ayo..." He spoke out even though he felt a little bit embarrassed about it.
There was silence, and then the door suddenly opened.
"Huh? Are you looking forward to receiving another kick?"
"No thanks, can I step in?" He asked politely.
After keenly observing him for a few more seconds, she opened her door and moved away from the entrance.
Her room was not particularly girly, fitting her physique. Portraits of various females adorned the walls, and the predominant color was sky-blue, lending a fresh atmosphere to the room.
Ayo pulled out a chair tucked beside the table near her bed and sat down.
"Did I ask you to sit?" She glared at him.
"No matter where I am, I like to make myself comfortable... take a seat." He said, gesturing toward her bed.
"Don't tell me what to do in my room." She said as she sat down, her tone still rather rude.
'Is that all you want to say?' she inquired, a touch of sarcasm in her voice.
Ayo's smiling lips twitched. It was more challenging to maintain his smile this time, but he persisted.
"Please, can you refrain from interrupting me when I'm discussing serious matters?"
"I'll try, but no promises, okay?"
Ayo looked at her with a stern expression, trying to have a meaningful conversation with her proved to be challenging.
"I'm sorry for all my actions. Losing your father must have brought a lot of pain–
"It's not your fault; it's my Mum who chose you over me."
'...she interrupted again... why is it so difficult to have a conversation with her?'
"Is that all you want to say?" she asked with a slightly rude tone.
