Chapter 37: Tired, I Need To Sleep

Thanks to the intrusion of the cat chick, things went pretty easy for Ayo. Killing a wounded prey was nothing to be proud of but he still had to be thankful for it.

It was simply luck. But he never wants to be in that position again.

Ayo scratched the back of his hair. His black hair was full and wavy unlike several other Nigerians you get to meet. Except the ladies of course. The beauty of his hair was naturally attributed to his father who was not a Nigerian. Although Ayo had not seen him in a long time–Ray had never, since reincarnation as the boy Ayo, he still thanked him for this unique hair.

His dark skin, gold eyes, and black hair came together to concoct a handsome face that any woman would happily sit on, even if they were older.

Not that Ray was particular about that part but it wasn't a bad perk to have. In his past life, he didn't used to be attractive. The only thing attractive about him was his sword stances when he slew off the heads of monsters, the ones of demon king usually warrant a lot of clapping and the red light district would give him a 100% discount.

But he had never had serious-minded noble ladies hit on him. Ladies of that time preferred, touche, exquis kinda noblemen, the ones that were aristocratic and rich.

Sure Ray was good in his days but his parent's status as a commoner forever held him down, limited him. In the eyes of the nobles, he was just a very good dog that everyone wanted, that was the only value he had.

To put a stress on the matter, he had a very bad personality. Rude, unbothered, uncaring, lazy as hell. Unattractive 100%. His face was average, not half as good as Ayo-Eniola here.

Ayo shook his head as he remembered the bad old days.

'Now, I'm Ayo. That is all that matters.'

It's not like he could go back to the days even if he wanted to correct things. The past is the past. This is a new beginning.

'Now, let's talk about the flaw'

Having all his skills and stats stripped off was a wild move from Phanes.

"I thought you came here to support?"

Ayo muttered out as he removed his hands which before now were behind his head as he rested on his bed and looked at the ceiling.

[I am only balancing things out for you]

[You have a maddening potential for growth]

[But having so much to rely on is bound to limit your potential]

"In the end, you are trying to make me try, take me out of my comfort zone."

[You don't even have to try...]

'This bastard has a way of smooth talking and not giving me the answer I want.'

Ayo sneered at the system's words, along with its manly, jovial voice. He was currently in an irritated position. He almost wished the system that saw him through his life was Ray was here instead. Her feminine voice was soothing whenever he remembered that he had not spoken to a girl in weeks.

He shook his head vibrantly.

She was arrogant, rude, and strict. If it was her they wouldn't even be having this conversation. She wouldn't even feel the need to explain. Still, he used all his life with her and still didn't know why he had her in the first place.

He never cared back then. But now...

Now, everything was confusing and something in him demanded an explanation.

Scared that he would begin to get immersed in unnecessary details, Ayo repeatedly killed that demand and just focused on whatever, anyhow it comes.

If he was going to demand any details, it had to be about his discomfort. Things were so much easier when he was strong and alone.

"Ayo!!"

He grabbed the pillow immediately and covered his ears. The voice had come from outside his room but it was like it was resounding in his ears.

Shola always had a loud voice but it seemed to have gotten louder since she awakened.

Ayo had just come back from the tower and had not gotten any sleep. He was trying to get some sleep when all these waves of thoughts set in.

'Please, just let me sleep'

He cried inwardly, seriously regretting that they came to his house. Blame the whole thing on the fact that a dungeon gate appeared in their house and swallowed them up, destroying the house too. Or the blaming should start from whatever caused this suffering dungeon breaks and awakenings.

If not for that he would be peacefully in his house, eating chicken legs, ordered, not home-cooked, and scratching his butt while watching TV shows and ridiculing the characters.

"Ayo!!!!"

He pressed the pillow deeper but he knew it wasn't going to work. A few seconds later she was going to barge on and give him a big scolding.

"A.Y!!"

She barged in.

"Seriously, do you even know what time it is?!"

"Aunt, it is 6 in the morning, 6'o clock!"

Ayo answered with a frustrating grunt, lifting the pillow off his head and turning his head back to his aunt at the door.

"Ugh? To be exact it is 6:51."

"Same thing."

"No! It is not the same thing. As a teenager, you should be home. Doing your workouts, getting ready, and taking in the great energy of the day before the rest of the neighborhood suck in everything. You can't wake up by 8 or 9, all the energy would be gone by that time."

Ayo was dumbfounded. He replied to her words with a gaped mouth.

"What?"

She raised a brow.

"You Seriously do not believe that. You do not."

He asserted, looking at her raised eyebrow. Which insinuated there was nothing funny. His fears were confirmed at that moment. She does believe one can suck in the good energies of the day.

"Even monsters started appearing out of nowhere and both the normal world and the martial arts world have been thrown into confusion. At this point what is there not to believe? You would be the weird one for not believing."

She was right. The world had been thrown into utter chaos and was in a time where everyone is trying to get their footing. Know where they belong and what on earth is happening to the Earth.

'But still...'

Ayo gave up on his thought, he was to continue thinking.

"Aunt"

"Yes, darling?"

"I just want to sleep."

"Didn't you sleep overnight?"

She asked, concern waning her voice. Her afore-huffy-puffy shoulders calmed as she took gentle steps to Ayo and sat by his bed, gently touching his head.

"What happened? Your eyes look dull but you have no fever."

'Well, you wouldn't understand.'

So, he didn't bother explaining.

"I know... I promise I will be better when I catch some sleep."

"Ah, I see... so, do I ask the next-door lady to come back later?"

"Sorry, what now?!"

Ayo shot up like a compressed string that was just unleashed.
