"Ha Ha Ha!" A burst of high pitch laughter resounded behind Miya. She couldn't turn away to check who it was. All she was that they were coming after her and further away from Adonis.
Thunder fell from above with a blinding light obliterating Miya's vision. She could only flinch and close her eyes. As everything cleared and her eye adjusted to the dark she could see better. An entire tree burning and split apart from the middle came into her view. The thunder had fallen on it.
The smell of wood burning and the wissing of the burning wood entered her ears. Zeus himself was the God of thunder. Was these thunderstorms a sign of his rage?
Miya didn't know. All she knew was that she had to save Adonis till he finished his cultivation. She ran up to the burning tree and swung her axe against it!
The entire tree got chopped off as it fell over. Miya's pursuers dodged but some were too late!
The flying silhouettes got caught up in the tree as their bodies burned alive! The smell of charred flesh entered Miya's nostrils making her almost want to puke.
"Witches," Miya whispered as she held onto her mouth.
They were humanoid creatures riding on brooms that mostly had the appearance of women. There was almost a score of them after her!
Their loud laughing stopped as their attention turned to their screaming comrades who were now being burned alive!
It wasn't as funny as before. Some of them had died. They had learned their lesson and understood that Miya was a class of her own.
Uprooting a tree with such speed with a single swing? Not many could do that. Not many have superhuman strength like Miya possessed. Being the daughter of Zeus sure had its perks.
Miya gritted her teeth. She could be strong, but there were too many witches after her!
"But I can't back off!"
She had chosen her battleground, Now she would either be buried here or emerge victoriously!
She ran towards the witches as she hurled herself in the air swinging her axe. She had superhuman strength but she had never fought before. Her movements were amateurish at most and full of holes in the defense.
The witches dodged and moved away. Some were blown under the shock wave that the swing had generated. She had given it her all! But it was a pure brute force!
The witches started chanting spells as they hurled balls of fire towards Miya. The fireballs manifested from this air from the tip of their wounds, Miya tried to block them by keeping her axe in front of her!
"Ugh!" She grunted. Most fireballs were deflected but some had brushed across her skin causing it to left burned. Her clothes got charred revealing her smooth skin.
Miya had never met a witch. Like Adonis, she was forced to live a sheltered life. She had only ever heard stories of witches. But today she was able to witness their powress.
"If only I could fend them off somehow!"
Miya didn't want to win this battle. Nope, all she wanted was to hold the witches back. She wanted to buy time. She wanted to run away making it a game of cut and chase. But she was surrounded in all directions!
The witches flew above her head as they began laughing again.
"Ha Ha Ha," their high pitched sound could allure men if not for their scary smile.
Miya lept in the air as she swung the sword along with her. She clearly lacked technique but there was no lack of talent. Several witches fell from the sky as they died.
Miya just like Adonis was the daughter of Zeus. When Zeus's genes had created warriors like Ares and Athena how could Miya be any weaker? She too was a class in itself when it came to war.
Her axe slashed through the neck of a witch. Her head got separated from her body with her mouth opened as she chanted her fireballs. Miya had stopped her before she could even finish her chant.
But alas several witches who were behind Miya could not be stopped. Their fireballs came from behind her and hit her back, burning her clothes and charring her back.
Miya coughed out blood. The force she felt from the fireballs was the real deal! It caused immense pressure on her spine!
"Damn witches!" Miya glared.
She could have killed all of these witches if they came at her one by one. But the witch refused to play fair! They grouped up together to bully her and possibly to kill her.
"Ha Ha Ha," they laughed at Miya's injured state.
The black hats on their head tumbled over as they held onto their stomach.
Miya squinted her eyes,
"Is Zeus the one who sent you?" Miya asked sounding domineering. His voice had the needed force even if she was injured.
But there was no reply from the witches other than their mad laughter.
Miya squinted her eyes again.
"What's wrong with them?" she whispered as her pupils shook left and right.
From the very start, these witches weren't acting normal. Witches have intelligence as high as humans have but the witches attacking her were acting like wild monkeys!
What's more? She didn't understand why Zeus would even bother to sent witches after them when he ruled so many different beings!
'Witches' didn't fall under Zeus' jurisdiction.
