"Why don't you stay a bit longer, darling?" The Queen asked, putting on a pleasant smile.
Elize shook her head, getting up from her seat. "I'm sorry, queen Evelyn," she said, politely refusing the offer. "I'm quite tired today, so I'd like to retire early."
As soon as she finished her sentence, the room filled with laughter. Elize sighed. This was not the first time that it had happened since last night. It was as if the women in the palace grew bolder in the absence of the men. Evelyn quickly shushed her maids who were sitting around her.
Leaning towards Elize, she whispered, "Is it because Lloyd went with the soldiers? Do you miss him already?" She teased.
