Fire blazed through what was once their path. The only land bridge that connected the city to City S had been reduced to nothing but smoke and flame.

On either side, the river surged, deep and wide.

City A was completely surrounded by deep rivers, making it almost like an island. The only way in or out had been a single land bridge that connected it to City S. But now that the bridge had been destroyed in the bombing, they couldn't escape that way anymore.

With no roads or bridges left, the group's only option was to travel on foot through the entire city to reach the far side—where the ruins of an underground metro tunnel led beneath the river toward City X.

It was their only chance to get out before the city was wiped out completely.

Technically, they were trapped.

"We can't leave through here," Yunfeng said quietly.
