All eyes were on Yuki. They were not mistaken - there was someone mumbling back to Ryohei. Even Ryohei lifted his face from Yuki's neck, perceiving the tingling sensation coming to his sorrowful heart. He did not cry even though the tears streaming down his cheeks. Kouichi and Kouji on Yuki's chest still happily chuckled, as if they were reacting to Yuki.
"Honey?" Ryohei called softly. "Honey, honey?"
There were movements beneath Yuki's shut eyelids. They was rapid breathing in Yuki's mask. There were faster waves of Yuki's chest. There was Yuki's voice coming out of his mouth. Seconds of expecting, Yuki, the very first Omega to conceive and pregnant, opened his eyes.
"Nurses! Check him!" Without delay, Yamato instructed the nurses in the ward.
Yamato and Ryohei placed Kouichi and Kouji back into their stroller, while the nurses were examining Yuki thoroughly. All the parameters displayed on the screen surprisingly reversed to normal levels. Yuki could breath as usual, and his heart beat was normal too. Ryohei was utterly astonished that he fell onto his knees.
"I heard him, I heard him!" Ryohei frantically cried. "Yuki is there! I heard him!"
Kawanishi ran to get Ryohei in his arms, patting the latter and cooling him down. Hayato was holding the stroller, heart pumping fast and hoping that Ryohei was not wrong. Somehow, they too heard Yuki reacting to Ryohei's confession.
The nurses dismissed, revealing the skinny Yuki on the bed. Kawanishi helped Ryohei to stand on his two feet again, confronting the awoken Yuki.
"Dear."
He stretched out one hand. The Yuki in his sight was staring back at him. The Yuki before him was smiling in return. The Yuki on the bed has awoken from his sleep.
"Honey... Honey!"
Nothing hindered him to dash to Yuki, cuddling the blind and wailing his heart out. His mouth continuously calling out for Yuki, and his eyes never stopped from looking at the blind lovingly. Yuki was not really looking, but it was as if. He cupped Yuki's thin face and caressed with his thumbs.
"Honey!" Ryohei hugged Yuki and sniffled. His incoherent voice kept on calling Yuki. "Honey! Honey!"
The sensitive Yamato panted. The waiting has ended. Yuki, the blind patient, has returned from a coma. The first person to be enthralled by Yuki's return was the husband, Ryohei. Yamato pursed his lips, contented by the unexpected progress by Yuki's body.
"Honey, I miss you so much. Where have you been?" Ryohei kissed everywhere on Yuki's face. The face he has been longing, the wife he has been yearning. The love of his life has awoken from a deep sleep. "I miss you, I miss you."
"I'm always here, dear," Yuki replied in hoarse voice. He tried lifting his hand to reach Ryohei's face, but he could barely move even the fingers. "Dear, I miss you too."
The touching scenery before their eyes was real. It was neither a daydream nor hallucination. Yuki has really opened his eyes, and even though he was still blind, the reaction told everyone that he was alive.
"Babies," Yuki mumbled, "I want- to touch."
"Sure, sure. Let's meet our sons," Ryohei wiped his tear trails and gestured at Hayato to bring the twins over. "I will help you."
Yamato lent a hand by assisting Yuki's arm to hold Kouji, while Ryohei gripped Kouichi on Yuki's another arm. The twins were snuggling into Yuki's chest, chuckling happily in their mother's range. Yuki was all smiles, yet his tears overflowed.
"I'm a mother- Dear, I'm- a mother now."
Ryohei leant over, landing a kiss on Yuki's both eyes and kissing the longest on Yuki's lips. His one hand held firmly on both Kouichi and Kouji, while his other hand stroked Yuki's hair. This was the warmth he has been longing to grasp. This was the love he has been yearning. This was the one he supposed to pour his entire heart to.
"Yuki, I'm not going to leave you."

Three months later.
Even though Hayato disapproved it, Kawanishi had no choice but to accompany Yamato in the labour room. Coincidentally, Yamato's water broke during Kawanishi's weekly visit at the house. He had no idea that Yamato has been enduring active labour for one whole day before he arrived, and the timing was punctual. An ambulance was called and through the journey to the hospital, Yamato was half awake.
The incident kept on replaying in his view. Eight months have passed, yet it felt as if Yuki's fallen into coma happening just a few days ago. Deep inside, he still loved Yamato, thus dragging him into the same situation as Yuki was not his option.
Almost six hours in the labour room, Yamato has safely given birth to a girl. The most surprising part was the baby looked like Yuki instead of her parents. Kawanishi blinked at the sight in confusion.
"So, Omega's pheromone could influence another Omega's, hmm," Yamato came to conclusion. "I must notify this."
"Stop with your research just for a month, will you?" Kawanishi grunted in displeasing. "Although the baby is in the neonatal ward, you must take a very good care of yourself. I'm sure I'm not a good father, but I don't want you to get too obsessed with your research."
"Why not? I became my own subject," Then Yamato hissed. "My opening stung."
The ward entrance slid open, emerging Ryohei with a double stroller at the doorframe. He with a wide grin came to visit Yamato and his newly born daughter. A bouquet of roses was handed to Kawanishi.
"Manager, Yamato, congratulations!" Ryohei wished at both of them. "You guys are strong, I must say."
"Not as strong as you," Kawanishi lowered his gaze, skimming over Ryohei's whole body. He seemed much more inspirited than how he was around three months ago.
Yuki was his strength after all.
"I couldn't be happier, but I hope we don't burden you, Manager," Ryohei fidgeted with his fingers.
Yamato and Kawanishi exchanged glances. Kawanishi patted Ryohei on the shoulder, curving a reassuring smile.
"It's my promise. I don't do much. Everything happened because of me. If only I were saner back then, Yuki might still can see. So this is my way to repay everything to him."
"Don't worry of us, Ryohei," Yamato grinned from ear to ear, "You're like my family to me. I love you like how I love Yuki, but now I have to divide my love to Touko too."
Ryohei was about to exit the ward when Yamato requested Kawanishi to tag along. Ryohei declined it at first since Yamato should be resting instead of moving around, but Yamato insisted and said they must use the wheelchairs available in the hospital. They did leave Yamato's ward and went to another ward.
Yuki was lying on the bed, as if he was expecting news. Ryohei made his way to the bed and kissed Yuki on the forehead as his way of accost. Kouichi and Kouji in the stroller flailed their arms, demanding Ryohei to pick them up.
"Our children are so excited as well," He picked Kouji first and pecked on the cheek. Then he put Kouji down and did the same at Kouichi. "I love you guys."
A doctor came in. He was Yuki's current doctor for Yuki's eye treatment. Due to the building up guilt from within, Kawanishi has offered himself to sponsor Yuki's eye operation to redeem for everything occured. Both Ryohei and Yuki were refusing to accept at first, yet Yamato convinced them to just accept because if they didn't, even he would feel bad. That way, Kawanishi would ease his troubled mind and soul.
The doctor undid the bandage around Yuki's head, and removed the gauze on Yuki's respective eyes. "Open your eyes slowly," said the doctor.
Yuki obeyed to him, and the result was impressively astonishing. He felt like he was reborn. His vague sight was getting clearer as he adjusted his new cornea to the lighting, and the first thing came to his view was Ryohei at the bedside, expecting good news from him.
So this is Ryohei, he instinctively uttered. The man who happened to save him from an accident. The man who willingly became his navigation, who agreed to live together with him, who sincerely confessed his love to him, who took a very good care of him in health and sickness, who hugged him every day and pampered him every night, who treated him as a lover and not as a prostitute, who gotten married to him, and the man who was the father of his children. He stretched out his hand, reaching Ryohei's face and caressed every inch of it gently.
His sight then shifted to the baby stroller by Ryohei. There were two babies. Both had black hair, fair skin and good looking facial - really resembled Ryohei. The only difference between the twins was the birth mark on Kouichi's nape, and the only Yuki's feature found was the eye.
He then scanned around the ward. Kawanishi came into his view first, then he moved to the pallid Yamato on the wheelchair. Yamato seemed weak and his flattened belly informed Yuki that he has delivered his baby. Kawanishi did not change much from last time. Hayato? Yuki did not seem to care. Witnessing Kawanishi in the ward, Hayato was most probably working at Niji Bookstore. The doctor who performed his eye operation stared at him, also waiting for his response after he has exposed Yuki's newly formed eyes to the surrounding.
Yuki gazed back at Ryohei. Ryohei was looking at him directly into the eyes. His heart pounded harder than all these while. So this is Ryohei, his husband. He did not grope randomly anymore - He immediately cupped Ryohei's face and gifted his husband a French kiss right before everyone.
"You're a really refined young man, dear." Yuki's tears streamed down to his chin, obviously they were tears of happiness.
Hi.
Thank you for reading until the final chapter. This is my very first omegaverse fiction, and frankly I didn't plan the plot. I created this fiction to mend my writer's block issue, and it seemed like it worked to me.
I love stories with sad ending, I don't know why. Or if it isn't, I love stories with very impactful conflict. I came up to this idea because I was finding a story with such criteria. I was like, "What if the story becomes like this?" So <Ryohei and His Friend> was published.
