Looking over the valley I see a creek cutting through the middle. Forest and tundra sprinkle the land. Past all that I see rolling hills and more tundra.
So the the objective is to survive. I know there are enemy's north of my position. That are most likely hunting me now. So that leaves me west, east , and south.
I continue and start scanning the East which looks to be mostly snow covered forest. Then the West Hills and forest. Thinking as fast as I can I think West is my best chance. Forest and hills have good cover and hopefully a cave or a hunting post of some kind is out there somewhere.
Gathering myself I start my hike I tie a branch to my waist to help sweep my foot prints in the snow away. Smart right I learned that trick from a war sim movie.
Trudging along its been about 30min since I left the shack area. And from this distance of about 2 miles away, I can hear a dog and maybe a snow bike or two in the distance. That's not good news for me.
There's not only a dog but they seem to be more mobile than I'll ever be on foot. Taking out some things in my backpack I contemplate my options. With the things here I might be able to creat my own trap and give them a taste or their own medicine.
I continue my journey looking for a place I might be able to acquire a strategic advantage. An hour later I come across a small gorge created by a stream that's frozen over. This is a good location for an ambush I think I'll place my trap here. Then work on making a bow and arrow set.
Then If I can make my way up this rock face I'll have a good vantage point, so I can see if anyone is following me. Taking special care I slowly make my way up the rock face. I don't want to slip and end my simulated life here.
After heaven knows how long I get to the top. Planting myself on my back I reflect on my changing life this past day. Looking to the sky I'm amazed about the realistic experience of this sim. If I didn't remember getting in the capsule pod I would think this is real. The fatigue my sore feet and freezing legs and hands make this to real sim pain at %100 is no joke.
Maybe because I was sitting still I could hear the echo of an engine approaching in the distance. Flipping over with my hands ready I grab the binoculars around my neck. Following the tracks I thought I covered I see two people in scout looking winter garb. Riding on a pair of snow bikes.
They come to a stop and jump off the bikes. One staring at the ground as the other scans the surroundings gun ready. Making a guess they seem to be about 3miles behind me. Which means they can get here in about 5min.
Good thing I placed that trap at the mouth of the gorge earlier before I climbed up here. Now I need to hurry and make that bow. As the time ticks by I concentrate on my task glancing down the trail every few minutes.
It seems I did a better job with my track covering then I thought. Those scouts are having a hard time. It's been about 20mins and I just finished my Hand made bow and arrows it took some effort but I think it will work. I only have five arrows but it will have to do because I'm out of time.
Glancing from my vantage point I can see the scouts coming toward the gorge. There about 50ft out and closing. I crouch behind some bushes on top the gorge.
It's the moment of truth sink or swim this is my only shot. 30ft out..... 20ft out.... 10ft. Damn they stoped right before my trap only 2 more feet and it would have been awesome.
POV Scout 1: Were tracking a possible enemy
Scout that triggered our loot trap. Who ever this is has some skill but it seems not much knowledge. They used a branch to cover their tracks but the branch still left a trail no matter how small it was.
Looking forward we come to a small gorge hmm thats a good ambush spot. Signaling my partner we jump off the bikes. I scan the ground and the trail continues in this direction.
Walking forward I scan the overlooking hills, I can't see anyone from here... hmmm maybe I'm being to cautious. Stepping forward my boot catches a snag. Looking down I see a thin wire, following it I see a grenade hidden in a bush.
With sweat on my face I try to step back. Not thinking I forgot to warn my partner and he steeps right on it..... shit. POV end.
Thinking my trap failed I get ready to run or to shoot my arrows. But that's when that first scout starts looking at the ridge I'm hiding on. Coming to a swift stop I try to stay calm. Not expecting he's actually walking right toward my trap.
Yes yes a little closer little scout a little closer. Then he stops.... oh no he saw it damn damn damn. Just a little more and (BOOM)not expecting the explosion I failed to notice the second scout steeped right on the wire. Ha ha yes yes yes. I jump up and yell out victory.
Take that scouts though you were smart laying traps for me. Now one got you ha ha. Carefully I climb back down the slope to inspect my work.
Walking up to them I see there not moving. Right then that first scout flips over and starts to shoot a plasma pistol at me. In that moment every thing came to a sudden slow motion I almost thought my life was flashing before me, then I remembered I was in a sim. Darn I guess I Forked up game over I got to confident.
Sorry cliff there but hey at least there was some action right.
