I parked my car outside the grocery store and got out. A bell tinged as soon as I entered the store. The store was not too big, not too small. I was greeted by a girl manning the payment counter. She looks to be in high school but most importantly, she is human.
I sighed internally. No werewolves so far.
She gave me a gentle smile as I entered and I returned the gesture. I walked through the aisles and horded the things I needed in the cart. I mean it when I said I horded them.
All five of us have a huge appetite. Well this will be gone before they even arrive. I would have to come back here in a week or two.
I pushed my overflowing cart to the counter for billing. The girl at the counter looked overwhelmed by all the things I was buying. I blushed with embarrassment.
This is the reason I never go grocery shopping.
Before we split up, it was Dominic's job to keep the kitchen stocked. Sometimes when he returned from shopping, I feared he had emptied whichever store he went to. Well he will be back in two weeks. I won't have to do this anymore.
"Hi! I am Amanda." The girl suddenly spoke breaking me out of my thought.
"Hey. I am Valarie." I replied with a smile.
"Are you new in the town?" She asked checking out the contents of my cart. "I haven't seen you here before."
"Yeah. I just moved to this town in the morning."
The sun was shining brightly in the sky outside the store.
"Where do you live? Omg are you joining our high school?" She asked excitedly.
I cringed. School.
Thank the heavens, I never had to set foot on that damned place.
When I was in my old pack, the omega women who used to look after me, taught me basics like reading and writing. When I turned three, she would bring old school book of the kids from the pack for me to read and learn. Till the age of ten, I learned everything like that. I was smart for my age.
She would always praise me for that. She was a really nice lady. I used to call her mama B. Her name was Bonnie. She was a really old woman but the sweetest person I have met in that pack.
Then I was sold to the Stormshade. The only thing that happened there was training but I still managed to read and learn as much as I can.
That's where I met Ezekiel. He was one of the five kids that were bought with me. He is a year older than me but the first time I met him, he looked like a seven year old despite being eleven. He was severely malnourished.
As the days passed, he hit a major growth spurt and now towers above us all with me being the shortest at 5'6".
I am eighteen now. I should be in the senior year of high school but as I have never been in a school before and to top it all, being on a run didn't gave me a chance to enroll anywhere. I am not planning on doing so anyway in the future or anything either.
"No. I am homeschooled." I replied to Amanda.
Well lied would be the better word.
Her expressions changed from excitement to disappointment in a mere second. She then silently billed all the items in the cart. I smiled at her apologetically and handed her my card. I picked up all of my eight bags and proceeded out of the shop ignoring the stunned expression on Amanda's face.
Well, being half werewolf sure has its perks. I loaded those bags in the back seat of my red Camaro SS and zoomed off towards my new house.
I stocked everything in the bags to their right places and trotted upstairs to the attic to take a much needed bath. After bathing I changed into the comfiest pjs I can find and went to the kitchen to fix myself something for dinner which is cold pizza.
Who am I kidding? I can't cook to save my life. Dominic is highly disappointed with me in that department. I am not planning on clearing his disappointment any soon. I won't miss his food even if costed me my life due to starvation. He won't let me go hungry anyways. That guy knows me too well.
I finished my diner in silence, sighing now and then. This silence is killing me. Two more weeks and I won't be alone again. I can't wait for these weeks to fuck off as soon as they can.
I remember when I first met Dominic. It had been only two years I have been in the academy. He was cold at first, to the point of being plain rude. There was always a sneer itched on his face.
Till then I had been pretty much acquainted with my werewolf part and I was starting to learn that I am not half human but something else but having no access to the supernatural world and my mother being pretty much oblivious about it, I didn't know what it was.
Off course Zeke was always by my side. From the day we met on our first day here, we stuck to each other like a bee to honey.
Okay! That sounded gross. Even to think.
Zeke's body was starting to change at an alarming rate. He went from a scrawny boy to a strong fighter in these two years. He almost looked like a high schooler body vice. If it wasn't for his face, no one would have believed he was thirteen. We made a rough guess of what was happening. His shifter genes were kicking in.
At the age of twelve and thirteen, we were doing pretty well on our training and the higher ups were even thinking of giving us our own mission with an experienced assassin to watch over the mission if anything goes wrong.
They did end up giving us a mission and that's when Dominic came in. He stood there in front of us, his muddy brown eyes glaring daggers at us, every line on his pale face itched in disgust, standing tall at 6'3" and his black hair were cropped short on his head.
To tell the truth he looked borderline frightening. Still we stood our ground. We knew in this world, one spark of weakness and we will result in us ending up dead.
