Blake has always lived inside an old mansion, where her family had been exiled. The mansion was surrounded by a high wall, which prevented her from having any kind of contact with the outside world, with the exception of a small hole by the cracks in the bricks on the west side of the wall, which allowed her to see the dark silhouette of a mountain in the distance.
Even if the wall hadn't existed, she still wouldn't have been allowed to visit the outside world, because no one could know about her existence. Her parents even kept her hidden from the merchants who came to supply the mansion with food once a month.
Like that, Blake grows up far from the rest of humanity, and begins to dream and idealize the outside world that- deep down in her heart- she knows she will never be able to see.
Until one day a seagull flies over the wall, and teaches her what it means to live.
