As Theo walked toward the exit of the arena field, the spectators leaned over the fences on the sidelines trying to get close to him, every one of them screaming and yelling in excitement. It was all too much for Theo to process. He wasn't sure how to react and simply held up a smile as he left the open air.
The all too familiar hallway had a different atmosphere to it now. Theo knew it was going to be the last time he had to walk down it.
Gradually, the paralyzing excitement receded, and Theo's thoughts came back to him.
Cole Anson is dead, and I was the one that killed him. That thought coursed through Theo's mind. As much as that was a satisfying thought, from the final looks of Duke Carter, Theo reckoned it couldn't have been all that merry. There might have had been unforeseeable consequences to killing the heir to the most powerful noble house in the kingdom.
