"Mina!" She called out as she stormed off from the basement. Running up the stairs not caring that she felt like her heart was going to burst. The nerve of that douchebag. He would get it from her and karma. You don't just go around doing bad things to other people and expect that you will get away with it. Sooner or later, life catches up with you and you pay for everything you have done.
"Mina!" She called out again and then stopped to catch her breath. It felt like she was going to die. Her heart beating so fast and so close to her sternum she was sure if she moved again, it would for sure get her dead. She could feel it being scratched. It was like there was no fat sorounding it. This was bad and before she knew it, she was sitting on the staircase trying to breath.
"Wamuyu! Wamuyu! Don't you dare close your eyes. This is not the right time for any of that. Just breathe." She heard a familiar voice calling out from far away.
"Did I faint? Am I fainting?" She thought and faintly said.
Mina heard and chuckled. He could see how hard she was trying to not faint and he appreciated it.
"You did not faint my love. You're okay. Just breathe any you'll be okay." Mina said and kissed her brow.
"I did not. I don't faint. I wonder what happens when people faint." She said still in her state of weakness.
"Just breathe and wake up. You are okay and thankfully won't have to find out today or ever." He said and sat her up. She was still weakly so he supported her.
"I might faint when I get pregnant. Oh dear they expect me to get pregnant and have a child. I wonder if I still have to breastfeed like other mothers. I applaud them but my boobs aren't that big. What if I breastfeed and they become flat?" She asked and started to come to. What she didn't know was that she was just opened up her darkest thoughts to her best friend. Secrets that she wouldn't have wanted known because in that age and time saying such things was an abomination. But he didn't care. She was not just any other woman. She was the queen.
"But if you don't brestfeed them, who will feed them?" He asked and by now she was mildly aware of her soroundings.
"Aaargh! Fine I'll breastfeed but my boobs better get bigger when I'm pregnant." She said and sat up holding her head.
"Welcome back." He said smiling at her. She smiled and rolled her eyes and then remembered she had no idea what had happened after she fell or sat.
"What happened?" She asked looking around.
"What do you remember? Do you remember anything?" He asked and she touched her head looking deep in thought.
"I remember walking fast and then I got so breathless I thought my heart would burst." She said and touched it. "It was nauseating."
"Are you okay?" He asked feeling concerned. "People don't just get breathless after running a few meters."
"I don't know. Maybe there's something wrong with me." She said and shrugged it off. If she had allowed herself to think about it, she would have probably ended up panicking and this was not the time for that.
"You talked about breastfeeding. Are you by any chance pregnant?" He asked and held his breath. His best friend couldn't be pregnant. She couldn't have had sex already. She was still just a child after all.
"What are you talking about? Are you crazy? I don't even have enough time to be getting pregnant. Where did that come from?" She asked shocked by his trail of thoughts. Even if she were to be pregnant, whose child would it be?
"Well, you have become a bit distant and secretive for a while now. What was I supposed to think?" He asked defending himself.
"You thought I was out having sex?" She asked. "Jesus Mina! With who would I even be having sex?"
By now she had started laughing. After the initial shock had passed, she found the whole situation funny. To imagine herself out there secretly riding some man was just funny. She hadn't even gotten to the point of thinking that way. Kissing was as far as she had imagined herself and Tana getting to.
"Well you seem to be quite taken with the good brother." He said wondering if she'd say yes and break his heart or if she'd deny it and break his heart.
"I am not taken with him. He's just someone I knew a long time ago and promised to marry when we grew up." She said playing with her hair. She had promised Tana when they were kids that they would get married when they grew up.
She wondered if he remembered. She hoped he did.
"Are you going to keep that promise?" He asked.
"Who knows?" She said and got up. This wasn't something she wanted to talk about with him.
"Yeah. Let's go." He said and stood up as well.
"Where did you put the body guards?" She asked and finished walking up the stairs.
"They're in the other basement cells." He said.
"What are we going to do with everyone we have captured yet?"
"We'll use them as bait. I don't know what Tana has planned but I'm sure he'll deal with the rest of his brother's army for us and then we just have to get his parents here." She said as they reached outside.
"What will you do when they get here?" He asked and she stopped. She hadn't considered that point. She would need evidence for a fair trial that would end up in their being in prison.
"I don't know yet but whatever happens I'll make sure they end up in jail." She vowed and walked out.
"Alright but what do we do until then?" He asked.
"We go to Tana and see what's going on. He and our men should have the other men hostage by now or I don't know. Maybe in a very tough war." She said taking out the keys of her Jeep. She wasn't even sure what she was doing. All she knew was that she needed to get to Tana.
"Let me drive." He said taking the keys. She wasn't in her right mind to do anything.
In a few minutes they were on the road driving at an insane speed but luckily for them, there wasn't anyone else there driving so unless the vehicle skidded and flipped, they were safe. They got to the battlefield alright and got out running.
"Whatever is happening here?" Wamuyu asked Mina running towards the armory.
"I have no idea but look." He said and pointed to several grenades lying on the ground near their soldiers.
"The goddess is fighting for us. My dream is coming to reality." She said and looked at the grenades that were pinless but unexplosive.
