After six hundred years of endless searching with no fruit, the phoenix of whose age surpassed a thousand, Wei Feng descends to the mortal realm with the hope to find his long lost confidant, holding a yet-to-bloom crimson Lotus close to himself.

Though, instead of finding his confidant, he ends up exchanging moves with an oddly familiar but mysterious individual, only to have offended a high-ranking official from hell.

From here on out, a sequence of chance encounters and unfortunate events slowly interweave the fates of the pair of these eternal beings, one from the Nine Heavens and the other from the depths of hell, unveiling a long-forgotten past.
