To find the most powerful. That is the purpose of the Challenge. A vicious game meant to kill the weak and strengthen the Empire. Every year, five fifteen year olds from each island in the Abernly empire are sent to compete, totaling in sixty-five challengers.
This year Vivia Flynn was one of the chosen. Her goal, winning. Winning secured honor for the family who saved her from a lifetime on the streets. Winning meant repaying them for their kindness and generosity. Winning meant proving them wrong.
Winning meant everything.
At first, Vivia was ready to kill anyone. But after a few chance encounters with other challengers and even a royal guard, Vivia began to understand why her sister surrounded herself with people.
If they had met under different circumstances, they could have been friends.
But there was no such thing as friendship when your life was involved. There was no such thing as love when you could be killed by them the next day.
