Chapter 61: The next choice

Empress Seraphina was about to lose consciousness when the imperial guards barged inside seemingly hearing all the commotion. As they were the crown prince's personal guards, the words that came out of their mouths were limited. They saw their prince holding his mother by the throat and spoke in a hushed voice trying not to alert other palace guards.

"Your Highness, please calm down"

"The empress is about to pass out, your highness!"

"The Empress' guards are just outside your quarters, your highness!" it was true. They had somehow stopped the former from barging in but any moment now, it would turn futile. The guards were trying all they could to prompt their prince to see the reason and at last, that last sentence seemed to do the trick.
