Kapitel 49: License Exam Start

With a heavy thump, a bag was almost thrown onto the desk. The orbs that the villains had been compressed into rolled out of the bag before settling in front of Nezu who looked up from them and Nick with narrowed eyes.

"Explain."

---

Nick had told Nezu what happened. Almost exactly as it went. The Heroes that Nezu had gotten to be waiting for guard outside the clinic, the most notable one being Edgeshot. When the meeting hadn't gone as planned and the Doctor had simply healed Tomura they were going to act but Nezu stopped them, telling them to trust The Doctor for now.

When he never came back they wondered what had happened. It wasn't long before a hunt was declared for the League, Nezu had forbidden any mention of The Doctor however saying he would deal with it later.

So now that Nezu knew that Tomura had never been healed and the mission had positive results he was much more cheerful and even had offered tea. Nick had wanted to leave the room quickly though, the bear was a scary little rodent.

Having taken a sample of the villain's DNA before he did as Nezu asked. Nezu had gotten Nick to drop the compressed villains off somewhere and then uncompressed them, leaving them unconscious and keeping watch until the Heroes that Nezu trusted arrived and took them away. Having stayed hidden the whole time Nick wasn't worried.

He had also permanently put Kurogiri to sleep, the man would not wake up unless Nick fixed the problem. He would bring up the thought of Kurogiri being a Nomu at a later date.

For now, he had other things to do. Things he had put off long enough. There was only a short amount of time before the provisional license exam… he had put the most dangerous matter to the side for too long.

Eri.

Having absorbed Toya he had an idea of what he would do. He was certain he could do it and he was sure that it was the right choice. He would take her Plus Alpha DNA making her quirkless… it was the best thing for this world.

Stuffing his hands in his pockets he let out a long sigh… he wanted to go train with the Big Three again, it felt like it had been ages since he just spent some proper time with them.

He couldn't delay this, not with how Tomura was now acting.

Looking up at the sky he watched the sun start to approach the horizon. He wouldn't be going home tonight.

Finding a quiet place he turned into Andrew.

---

Making his way down the same alley he had gone through years before he ran his hand over the fence, feeling his quirk flow through the metal and down into the ground… it was still there.

Seeing it with his quirk made him tilt his head and pause, the body of Kai was still buried under the concrete a few meters deep.

Crouching down he put his hand against the concrete. Tempted to bring the corpse back up but changed his mind. With a thought he took a sample of DNA and seeing that it was quirkless, he couldn't help but sigh. He didn't know what he was expecting.

Shifting the corpse around he made a stone Coffin to surround it and cleared the earth out of the inside. Leaving just the body inside the stone. Healing the body to peak form he did this without once raising it above the earth.

He didn't know why but it felt… right.

Pushing the coffin as deep as he could he slowly wrote on its surface. Carved in the stone.

'Here lays Andrew Winter: The start of my journey.'

Standing up he felt his work through his feet. He didn't know why but he had figured it was something he wanted to do.

After all, he had Kai to thank for all this…

Placing one last thing inside he stood there for a moment, the moon the only thing lighting the small backstreet alley. He stayed silent, offering a moment to the beginning of his journey.

Continuing on his way, he made his way towards the presumed location of the Yakuza base he got from the information all those years ago.

---

Getting into the Mafia base wasn't even a challenge, he just fazed through the floor travelling underground.

Like a ghost he passed by their halls, travelling alongside the passages as he slowly travelled through the underground facility. Watching, searching…

There were a lot of halls, a lot of various rooms for different tasks, and weapons and ammunition stored to be either sold or used. It didn't take him long to find who he was searching for, however.

She was in a room not far from the boss's office. A colourful room filled with toys. A recently made pillow fort housed the small girl. Huddled on the floor, her face peaceful…

Her hands wrapped.

He didn't know what she had been through in this life, but he assumed that they were keeping her hands wrapped so that she could not touch living creatures. The bandages were on tight, but not overly so.

He hadn't really expected to find her here. He thought that he would need to ask the boss where she was. But it appears that wasn't necessary.

Rising from the floor, slow black smoke condensed down into the figure of The Doctor in case anyone saw anything happening. Crouching down he put a hand on her forehead. He could feel her quirk factor… dwelling in her body. Untapped, untrained. Wild.

Seeking to lash out.

It was almost… alive.

Closing his eyes he focused on it, and soon he was able to deconstruct the entire plus Alpha gene from her body. Reconstructing it in his, it was halfway between a merge and adding another quirk to his body. It made it much, much easier for him to quickly adapt it to his own DNA however.

Standing up straighter he looked down at her sleeping form. Shaking his head he took her bandages off and put them in front of the floor, leaving a note written in red crayon on scrap note paper.

'Her quirk is gone, it will no longer be an issue.'

Nodding his head he took one last look at Eri who was sleeping peacefully before walking into the wall. He would never see her again.

One arc of the cannon was completely gone.

He would also never tell Nezu about this, it was his trump.

Clenching his hand he felt the horn trying to grow from his head but he resisted it, but change wanted to happen. As he formed above the ground once more turning into Andrew as he prepared to make his way back home he felt something trying to shift inside his body.

Fighting it he felt his aggression increase so he let it flow as it wanted, he just watched it. It didn't however form a horn like he expected… no it traveled to his scar. Slight scales forming just above it, a small patch.

A change. Somewhere the rewind quirk could gather energy.

Focusing he dispersed the scales. Making his body normal again and they didn't resist. Since they held no power.

He would have to be careful and train the quirk, he needed to get control of it.

Walking towards home he let out a small tired sigh. He had finally done it, it had been easier than he thought it would be… but then again there was not much that could go wrong.

---

The provisional license exam soon came. Nick hadn't focused on much at that time. He had worked on developing his own warping quirk but he didn't want it to be a clone of Kurogiri's he mostly just took the supporting quirks that had made Cloud into the warping quirk and worked with them. He needed his own base though. He had one in mind, however.

He had also trained rewind, he was sure that it wouldn't act without him calling on it, and his emotions were not nearly as intense as Eri's so everything should be fine. He had to admit though, it was a very very hard quirk to control.

He had just focused on getting it to only activate when he wanted it to. Nothing else and that had taken him a good amount of time. He was tempted to seal it off but he thought that was overkill.

Looking out of the bus window Nick thought about his progress, it was slower than normal but then again he was working on more complicated stuff. Hanging out with the Big Three had been nice, he had done another round of training with them.

As the sound of the buses breaking broke through his thoughts he looked up and saw his classmates nervously chattering as they got off the bus… oh, they were here. He needed to get his head in the game.

Stepping out of the bus he looked at Aizawa who was waiting outside as he turned and walked away. Sharing a look with the man.

Stepping down from the bus, the last in line he was lagging behind a bit as his classmates nervously pulled ahead as they went towards the entrance. Talking to each other about what was happening. With Aizawa gathering the class for a small pep talk he encouraged the class.

However, Nick was more focused on watching the towering teen from Shiketsu High slowly approaching his class. Walking forward he listened to Eijiro start the chant before it was finished by the overenthusiastic teen.

Smiling to himself he looked at Yoarashi who stood as tall as him. Yelling 'plus ultra' with more enthusiasm than anyone in U.A., even contending with Present Mic.

Watching the scene unfold from the back of the group as Aizawa explained who he was, he turned to Shoto who was looking at the other teen with a look of… regret.

Wondering if Todoroki had changed that much, his normal defensiveness at being defeated had been broken by Nick. He was probably regretting how he dismissed him in the past.

Smiling a bit he walked over to Shoto's side and said, "So that's the kid that beat you in the entrance exam huh? Impressive isn't he. He is a bad enemy to make…" His tone was casual as he looked at Shoto, a knowing look in his eyes.

With his own eyes widening a bit Shoto nodded his head before turning back to look at Yoarashi.

Turning away from the teen Nick stared at the building that the exam would take place in and it was massive…

Flat images did nothing to show the scale of the building.

Ms Joke still came over to Erasure with her class but Nick paid no mind to the events, the main thing he noticed was that Bakugo shook the hand of the Shindo… sharing a look that was nothing else but a declaration of war between the two.

It was kind of amusing.

They soon were inside the building, standing in the entrance hall as the monotone, the too-tired voice of Mera sounded throughout the hall. As soon as the fact that only 100 kids would be passing was voiced everyone started to panic. Nick however just started to smile a bit broader.

He was ready, he was ready to start.

As the explanation finished he watched the walls start to fall away. The roof opens up to reveal the large arena. The multiple fields surround the large flat area. Standing a bit straighter Nick saw the other student's side eyeing U.A.

Hearing Midoriya start to speak about sticking together as he grabbed the targets he was offered and took his balls. Turning to see Bakugo and Todoroki already leaving Midoriya hadn't even finished turning to him before he was off.

He wasn't going to stay around them

This was too much fun to be weighed down.

Hearing the countdown he bolted into the arena as he saw multiple eyes follow him, he moved slow enough that they could keep up. The more that followed him the better.

Dashing off into the field he made his way to the mountain as he charge his leg up and sprung from the floor with an explosive push. Crashing into the side of the mountain he put his hands on the floor as he waited. As soon as the timer finished he thrust his quirk through the floor. Feeling every atom of stone. Flowing hair-like tendrils out into the mountain to increase his range as a web of nerves was formed underground.

Waiting for the right moment he felt the people that were already here and those that were making their way here.

He could feel their footsteps against the ground.

With a thought, the ground exploded in a mass of deconstructed matter. The violent explosion of matter made the entire mountain change shape as everyone on it and everyone around it was suddenly grabbed by the stone unless they had a way to avoid it.

With hundreds in his grasp, he used his three brains to the peak of their limits.

Pushing his control to the limit he felt his eyes glow a gold like nothing else, the sudden explosion of golden lightning travelling throughout the ground and running through his nerves that flowed underground.

As the ground reformed with hundreds stuck in its grasp, he used fine control to take their own balls and press them into their target using hands made from the earth.

---

Aizawa looked in shock as he stood from his seat. The entire mountain zone had exploded in golden lightning. The mountain itself shifted and twisted as the stone gave form to thousands of hands that grabbed opponents and took their own ammo, using it against them. Hearing the ding of hundreds of targets going off the sound of cracking and breaking stone sounded throughout the arena as the mountain continued to shift.

The mass of stone limbs growing and towering higher as clearly in its centre, at the core was Nicklaus Hendrix, gold lightning flowing from him and into the stone as he sat there in a meditative pose.

Complete control over an entire fourth of the arena and showing unimaginable power and overwhelming strength.

The shocked voice of Mera sounded throughout the arena. ["Over 450 examinees are now out!! Taken out by a single person and the first to pass the exam!!"]

Opening his eyes Nick looked over the arena taking a break from focusing solely on the area around him. People were running from the mountain, hundreds of tiny figures fleeing from the mass of stone that shifted with hundreds of artificial limbs. The constant deconstructing and reconstructing give the mountain an almost hazy appearance. The glowing golden nerve lines like a thread throughout the structure.

Hearing his targets announce his win he solidified the mountain as it was. Using his fine control over reconstruction to get the wind to solidify making him 'fly' as he drifted out of the mountain and towards the waiting room.

Watching in the distance he saw the raging torrents of wind. Amusement spread over his face as he tilted his head. How would you react to that Yoarashi?

=======

Thanks for all the support! Let me know what you think of what Nick did this chapter, I think it is a bit excessive transforming a mountain but I don't see why he couldn't if he spreads his range with nerves.

Reviews and comments are always welcome! Let me know what you think!
