Lots of alarms sound goes blaring in all the vault, as the automatic system calls failure and danger a pod system reboots and his system terminates slowly opening its door.
A woman blond and blue eyed open her eyes groggily trying to comprehend what's happening for 5 whole second before screaming at her empty arms where her son was just a minute ago, erratically looking around the room she see the other pods, as she get up and look around some more she first see a pod with its lever making static sound and electricity jumping some time but in front of it a corpse in hazmat suit and where the head is half of the mask seem blown of with the same half of the skull destroyed.
Not understanding what is happening at all she goes and tries to open some pods but the system voice goes "PO-ddddddds Pods man- MANU- manual opening inaccessible l-ease please go to the con- control terminal " the voice goes off with a loud static sound.
As she looks at the pods windows she is face to face with a deformed face of a frozen woman. "Are they all dead… no please I need answers !" she lamented, she looked at all the pods and found that some have holes in their head. Children too have been shot. Disgust swells in her stomach as she that and empty what was inside her, bile and saliva.
But doesn't stop her quest for survivor and answer and it's finally pays of after time of grueling work fall face to face with a woman who seems unharmed and she prays alive and just in front of this pod there is a man rough looking but calm with blood splattered on the glass with a baby in his arms.
"Please lord let them be alive… please… let them know where my baby is…" sobbing she ran till a terminal on a wall, as she went on it lit up its green light but was blocked on its password screen. "No please fuck" frustrated she curse, she look around the room and her eyes fall again on the corpse in front of the pod its look like a scientist, she to the corpse and search and find nothing but a card written on it is Carl Bern scientist Vault-Tec Vault 111 she take it and goes back to the terminal, she finally a slot and put the card in the screen goes to the password then turn black for 40sec scaring her but finally see 5 things Life Support, Cryostasis, Experiment, Subjects and Pods Control.
She clicks on subjects and the list of the people in the pods appear all are dead but 3 Duncan and Shaun Mason in one pod and Nora Mason in the other pod her signal opened and her son Tom Wonder life signal missing. Tears flood but she goes on the Cryostasis tab and sees that it was an experiment. It's written she skips it and goes in the control tab and opens the Mason's pods.
As the tight doors open she hears a man and woman grumbling. The woman Nora asks "What's happening urgh I want to barf" and as I approach I see her go out of her pod fast crying "Darling ! What happened ! Duncan ! My baby is alright ?! Shaun !" as she rushes I hear the man say "Don't worry honey I'm fine Shaun too it seems" as he talks the baby starts crying.
(Duncan POV)
As I, again feel this scorching heat I groggily grunt and look down on my chest. "He is fine… thanks lord, what a fucking trash of an hotel 1 stars on Tripadvisor fuck…" I grumble softly.
I then hear Nora "Good she's fine too" then I see Nora rush at us crying if we're alright and well, the sound wakes Shaun who begins to cry. As I go out and kiss Nora I see a woman looking at us from some distance from us, her eyes continuously spewing tears out of her eyes.
I look at her warily before saying "Hello. Who are you I'm Duncan and this is-"
"Nora I am Nora… Do you by any chance… know what's happening ?" Nora interrupts me and asks.
"I am Sofia and… No… I… I just woke up some time ago and I just got you out" tear still flowing she continue "But but but … I don't have my baby !.. he was with me !" she said while sobbing.
"WHAT ?! That is horrible ! How did that happen ?!" Nora exclaimed loudly.
"I don't know he was in my ar-" I cut her off "I probably know something…"
she rushed me and got close screaming "What ?! Tell me ! Please I BEG YOU !"
"It nearly happened to us too… Some people opened our pod and tried to take Shaun, but I had a gun and shot sadly it explo-" As I raise my right hand it looks nothing like before its skinny nearly bonny and in the place of my wound is pearl white skin till mid forearm where it is my original skin tone again.
"What the fuck ?" I shout "What happened to your hand ?! Love does it hurt ?" Nora asked me "No… No it doesn't… the bullet woun-" She interrupted me "YOU GOT WHAT ?!" "Nothing important Shaun is safe and sound that all matters so as I was say-" I answer before being cut again "That's not fine !" She looked down and gasped. The wound looked the same as my hand where the bullet exited too. "Later baby" I tell her.
"As I was saying, the dead man on the floor tried to take Shaun, I pulled the trigger, it exploded, he died and it injured the others around… Oh yes the one nearest the dead person was a baldy in a dark vest or something. He got a scar under his left eye… And by the way he shouted at me plan B something I don't really remember, I don't have a name or anything sorry but he… they surely got your baby… sorry." I say as I see her world crumble before her face contorts in so much anger and hate she creeped me quite a bit and she rushed out without saying anything.
"You're alright Nora ?" I asked her "Yes but but… Did you tell the truth ?"
"Sadly yes" I answer "Let go follow her out too".
After looking after each other's well being, we took the same corridor we came from a little bit earlier… by 200 years and followed the path to the exit. Dead carcass of splattered Radroach on the floor highlighting like an arrow where to go. After a certain time the floor started shaking and a steel sound resounded in the whole corridor and as we arrived the vault door was open and the lift was already going up.
I looked around and searched a locker for clothes. We found some change. We both took a bag and I took 3 Pipboy 3000 "What are they for?" Nora asked me "It's a portable terminal it will be useful and even if not … we could sell it … if society still exists that is." As we approached the lift it was already down.
As we went on the lift and pushed the button the screeching sound began as the elevator ascended.
Here we go, finger crossed everything will be alright. Peace and tranquility.
Too much to ask in an apocalypse huh ? Fuck…
