Kapitel 24: the bird of hermes

(POV: Noah)

I looked at the words and didn't hesitate to activate the card, but nothing happened, nothing...

I didn't feel any change, as if the card didn't work. What the hell is happening...?

I saw Oliver's "sister" in front of me, and she smiled. "Tough luck... now you die..."

She pointed her hand at me, and I felt the tree behind me move, a piece of it impaling me. The pain was unbearable, something pierced through my chest, though it seemed to miss my heart. My vision started to darken...

"Well... now you look better, dead and impaled... as it should be, damn annoying rat..." Her voice echoed as my mind failed to respond. My body felt weak, and I struggled to breathe.

"Hey... what are you doing...? Wake up to what you really are..." a voice spoke to me, my vision blurring further. Who was it...?

"I am you and you are me..." the voice echoed in my mind, my head throbbing, my thoughts a jumbled mess.

"We are... the bird of Hermes..."

(third person)

"Mia" looked at Noah's impaled body, blood pouring from his chest. "She" just stared at the lifeless body, not breathing, and said, "Haa... finally. Now I think I'll go to the laboratory, probably something would have been saved..."

"Mia" turned around and started walking, but suddenly she felt a chill. She looked behind her and didn't see Noah's body. Confused, she scanned the area and realized it was gone.

"What the...?" "Mia" murmured, bewildered.

"Haa..." a voice echoed behind "Mia." She quickly turned around and saw Noah, still wearing his white jacket, now stained with blood.

"Shit, you're a sneaky rat, aren't you?" "Mia" said with an annoyed smile.

"Haa... shit... shut up, my head hurts, I can't think straight... haa... SHIT!!" Noah screamed, clutching his head. His thoughts were churning like an unstable river in chaos. Noah clenched his teeth tightly, not understanding what was happening. The pain was worse than when the "Nemesis" card evolved into green. Noah gritted his teeth, but the pain did not stop.

"I'm... hungry..." Noah whispered hungrily.

"Haa... it seems like I'm going to have to—" "Mia" couldn't finish speaking. She looked in enormous surprise as her arm, which she was pointing at Noah with, disappeared, leaving only a stump of bleeding flesh. The bone wasn't even visible. "Mia" screamed in pain, almost collapsing to the ground.

"Yes... it tastes good... blood... sweet." "Mia" looked behind her and saw Noah biting into her torn-off arm, watching as the blood stopped spilling. "She" pointed at Noah with her remaining arm, but he disappeared with incredible speed. "Mia" heard laughter echoing through the forest.

"Hahaha... I'm hungry... my head hurts... will you give me food...?" The voice echoed. "Mia" heard it and shouted, "Fuck you!! What the hell are you!?!"

"I...? I am your nightmares... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!" The laughter echoed through the night forest. "Mia" gritted her teeth and pointed her remaining arm at the ground. The roots of the trees emerged, looking like whips poised to attack.

"How boring..." "Mia" heard a voice behind her and saw Noah, his red eyes gleaming with a wide smile. He opened his mouth, revealing monstrous teeth, and quickly bit into her neck. Noah threw "Mia" to the ground, biting her neck and drinking her blood. "Mia" screamed in pain and agony, slowly ceasing to move. Noah continued biting and sucking her blood. After a while, he stopped and saw "Mia's" corpse, now looking like a mummy.

Noah wiped the blood from his lips, licking some from his fingers. "How strange... the fog didn't come out. It seems that with some characters, the fog doesn't appear..."

Suddenly, Noah began to change shape. He quickly transformed into a different form, donning Victorian clothing, including a suit, riding boots, and an ostentatious intricately tied bow tie, covered by a burgundy overcoat. His eyes were as red as blood, and he stood at 1.95 m / 6'5".

Noah stood up and looked at his clothes, which were now red. His face changed, and he sighed, speaking with a different voice, "Alucard..."

Noah smiled. "I feel... free."

He looked at his hands and saw a five-point seal.

"Well, I won't be anyone's dog. It's my life, I'll do what I want, plus I think I have something similar to immortality..." Noah whispered, looking at "Mia's" body. He smiled and grabbed her by the neck, raising her body. "Goodbye... beauty," he said, opening his mouth with ferocious teeth and fiercely biting her neck. He tore off "Mia's" neck, her head flying through the air and landing on the ground.

Noah let go of her body and sighed. "I'll have to get used to it..."

Noah walked, but suddenly remembered something, "Can I change my appearance...?"

Noah thought and noticed how his appearance changed. Suddenly, he transformed back into his form without active cards. He smiled. "Although it doesn't feel very well, I still have an active card... in the future, I will have to improve my 'original' body somehow..."

Noah changed his form back to Alucard and walked towards the cabin. Noah entered and saw Oliver's dead body. Noah smiled and grabbed him, starting to suck his blood. Noah felt something enter him.

"A soul...?" Noah murmured with a smile.

Noah began to gather the items that were still functional or undamaged. He grabbed his backpack and walked towards the door. Luckily, his laptop was not destroyed. As he stepped outside, his form changed back to his original state, the one without any active cards. Noah smiled with his red eyes before closing them and reopening them to appear more human.

Noah smiled and said, "Well, this card will probably be one I'll use for a while..."

///

Noah walked dozens of kilometers away from the town without showing any signs of fatigue, as if he had unlimited stamina.

Before leaving, he had returned to the town to retrieve a syringe with the F gene that survived the chaos in the laboratory. He also wanted to collect a sample from the mutant girl with the F gene, but it had melted into dried, old blood.

Walking down the road, Noah saw a car in the distance. He stood in front of it, causing the car to screech to a halt. Inside was a family of four. Noah smiled broadly.

The man driving got out angrily, shouting, "What the hell is wrong with you!? Damn crazy man, I almost ran you over!"

Noah sighed and, with incredible speed, appeared next to him, piercing his chest. The man fell dead to the ground. Noah felt another soul enter him; it seemed he could store souls within him.

He then approached the car, looking at the terrified woman inside. He got into the driver's seat.

"Well, family! Time for a family trip!" Noah smiled warmly and drove off in the direction the car had come from. The family, consisting of two children aged around 10 and 11, were terrified.

As Noah drove, he whistled a little tune. The woman next to him fainted, likely from fear. The children huddled together in the backseat, shaking with fright. Noah smiled and said, "Calm down, little ones... you won't feel anything..."

///

Noah arrived at a gas station and got out of the car. Inside were three corpses, yet there was no blood at all. He walked into the gas station store, thinking with a smile, "Haa... driving feels good. Although, if I ran, I would go hundreds of times faster. But I want to take it easy."

Inside the small store, he saw a girl chewing gum while looking at her phone. She glanced at Noah with boredom before returning her attention to her phone. Noah ignored her, picked up a can of coke and a bag of chips, and paid with money taken from the family he had just killed.

Noah looked at the girl and asked, "Hey, do you believe in the supernatural?"

The girl looked up, confused. "What?"

Noah smiled and said, "You know something funny? Vampires don't glow if the sun shines on them..."

Suddenly, the girl's head twisted abruptly, and she fell dead to the ground. Noah approached and began to suck her blood, feeling another soul enter him—something that would be very useful in the future.

He then entered the security room of the gas station and used the computer to delete the day's security footage. Out of boredom, he positioned the girl's body in the security room with her neck twisted unnaturally.

Noah left the gas station and returned to the car, beginning another trip to a new destination.

"Haa... now with this card, I feel like I don't care about S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. It's like I don't care at all. Although, fighting very powerful beings would probably still be a hassle," Noah mused with a smile. His normal eyes began to glow a different shade of red and he smiled even more.

After a while, Noah started looking for things on his laptop. He wanted to find some kind of job; he didn't care what it was as long as it involved killing. He needed money for his big plans for the future.

While browsing the pages, he decided to check the news out of curiosity.

"Ghost Spider... Ah, looks like Gwen finally got a name," Noah said as he glanced at the laptop and continued driving.

"Ghost Spider saves New York from a type of sand... So the Sandman exists in this universe," Noah muttered with a smile.

Noah noticed a briefcase in his backpack, which contained a syringe with the F gene. It was something he planned to use in the future, but first, he needed to make it even more stable.

///

Noah was walking through a city in Pennsylvania with a smile on his face. He looked around and said, "What a peaceful place!"

While Noah was walking, he saw several people—normal people, somewhat interesting people.

"Haa... I hope I can have fun here," Noah thought with a smile.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(POV: Noah)

It's been a week since I came to this city. There's a mercenary workplace here, and I managed to get a good job. Killing and money—things I like, and everything is easy.

I had two guns in my hands. Underneath me was a guy of about 20 years old, begging for mercy. I was in my Alucard form. When I found the workplace, I decided to always use my Alucard form; it's my "original" form with this card.

He looked at me with fear. "Please... don't kill me--" I shot him in the head. Blood began to flow from his forehead. I took out a phone and looked at a message that said, "Mission completed?"

I replied, "Yes." Suddenly, I had another notification—the money they owed me was sent to a bank account I got. I sighed and smiled. I was finally able to get enough money. I'll be in Pennsylvania for a while, and then I'll go to New York. I want a "thing" from there...

I yawned a little and casually shot behind me. I heard two bodies hit the ground. I looked behind me and saw two dead people on the floor.

"Haa... I like money, but I want something more... interesting," I said boredly.

///

I entered a building between alleys. When I opened the door, I walked into what looked like a bar. To normal people, it would seem that way, but it was a place where mercenaries worked—something simple and useful.

I walked in and saw how people looked at me with a little fear. I remember the first time I came here; I killed a guy with one finger. After that, people stopped bothering me.

I sat in a chair at the drinks table, looked at the bartender, and said, "Done, damn it, John... give me something more... difficult, complicated... something more... exciting... killing a person who sells drugs is fucking boring..."

John, a guy in his 50s, bald, with a gray mustache but still in shape, was dressed in bartender's clothes. In fact, he was a bartender, but also a mercenary experienced in various arts of killing.

"Haa... you know it's complicated. You always complete your jobs... but it bothers clients how you leave the 'targets'... Last time it was a shapeless piece of meat..." John said with a tired sigh as he made a drink.

"Hey... I didn't do that to the guy who sold drugs," I said with a smile. John looked at me and said, "It was probably because you were bored..."

"You have a point..." I said with a smile.

"Well, do you have another job...?" I asked with an interested smile while drinking a glass of wine. I seem to like the taste when I have this card active.

"Well... I have one, but it's kind of complicated," John said as he cleaned a glass. I looked at him with interest and said, "Oohhh... that sounds mysterious. Tell me."

"Well... terrorists," John said casually. I was a little disappointed, but what John said afterward cheered me up. "Terrorists with strange abilities. I even saw photos of people who were torn to pieces. I think they are mutants or something similar. Something normal in these parts. This job is very variable."

"Ohhh... strange abilities...?" I said with a big smile. It seems that something interesting has finally appeared.

"Yes, in this city, things like that are... 'normal,' so to speak," John said with a small smile.

I looked at John and said, "Give me the job. I want to do it. I want to have real action."

John sighed and said, "Well... wait a while. I will give you the mission when I have it ready."

I got up and said, "Well, it's time to go home for a while. I hope you send me the mission, hahaha."

I left the place and decided to go to the hotel where I was staying.

I walked for a while and arrived. I entered an elevator and pressed the floor number. I waited a while and got out of the elevator. I walked and reached my room. Some people saw me and walked away quickly. Hey, I'm not that scary.

I entered my room, it was dark. I sighed and turned on the lights. My room was quite luxurious. I sat in a chair with a view of the city through the window, looking out as I crossed my legs. "Haa... I'll finally be able to use this card in a good action sequence... I think it's time for the Impaler to show up in town..."

"oohh... how rude..." I mumbled when I noticed that my door had been blown open by a small explosion. Dozens of soldiers poured in, their weapons pointed at me.

"S.H.I.E.L.D...?" I murmured, more curious than worried. I stood up, unfazed by his presence. With Alucard's power, I felt invincible. Nemesis was strong, but there was always a risk. With Alucard, everything was different.

One of the soldiers stepped forward and shouted, "Shut up, you monster."

"ohh... I don't think you should have said that," I replied with a sinister smile. In a blur of speed, I closed the distance between us and sank my teeth into his head. Blood filled my mouth and I licked it with satisfaction.

Gunshots erupted, bullets tore through my body with ferocious intensity. I fell to the ground, feeling my body regenerate rapidly. The soldiers' horrified expressions were almost comical.

"haa...what a bother," I said, standing up.

I moved faster than they could react, slashing them with my hands. One soldier was cut in half, another had his chest ripped open with my teeth, another was impaled on the wall with my hand, and I decapitated another with a single blow.

A soldier, crawling on the ground, was desperately shooting at me. I walked towards him slowly. "Hey... how did they find out about me?"

He said nothing and continued shooting in vain. I sighed. "Well bye."

I grabbed his face with my hand and squeezed, feeling his head pop like a balloon. Blood splattered on me and I licked the drops that reached my lips. Sweet.

I sighed and pondered aloud, "Strange... who would have discovered me? S.H.I.E.L.D...?"

Curiosity piqued, I approached the window and peered outside. Several cars were parked, and soldiers were pouring out, taking up positions around the building. "Hmm... who would have discovered me?" I mused. "Haa... could it be him?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(third person)

Elsewhere, a man in a black suit watched a live feed on his monitor. The camera, attached to the helmet of one of the fallen soldiers, displayed the grisly scene as Noah dispatched them with ease. His cold eyes never wavered as he observed the carnage.

"I finally found you... vampire," he murmured, a smile spreading across his face. "I never thought they existed..."
