Kapitel 1: Retirement Plan

Sitting by the table, I drink tea and watch as the young man sprawled out on the ground in front of me starts waking up. I quickly create a second cup of tea for him with magical calming effects as the moments after waking up from death are always the most panic-inducing.

The man looks to be in his early 20s, has short black hair and brown eyes.

As he opens his eyes, he seems to go into a panic briefly but quickly calms down as he starts looking around the pure white room. Soon his eyes find their way to me, and he appears to come to a realization.

"So that truck that hit me killed me, and you are some messenger of god here to send me to another world?" The man stated, seeming confident in himself as he sat down and started drinking his tea.

"Messenger of God? Why would you think I'm a messenger rather than God himself?" I asked with a sly smile on my face. Transmigrators these days think they have it all figured out. At least he doesn't seem too sad about dying. I did tell Truck-kun to choose someone with no attachment to their world after all.

"Well, you look way too young to be God. Also, I always imagined God would have this kind of divine aura around him or look wise and intelligent" Ah, that's right, I've never really liked looking old.

Modifying my own looks isn't all that hard, and every few million years, I change my appearance to shake things up a bit. Currently, I look like a man of Japanese descent. I'm a bit muscular, around 180 centimeters tall, and in my mid-20s. My hair is short and red; one of my eyes is orange, while the other looks like the entire galaxy is stowed away inside of it. Honestly, there isn't anything too special about my looks. I haven't made myself too attractive since there isn't anyone important to impress here in heaven anyways. Not like the angles and the lower gods would say anything even if I turned up dressed as a hobo.

"Sorry to say, but you're wrong. I am indeed god, in fact, I'm the head god. Divine aura is something I can turn on or off at will, and if I were to turn it on now, you would be kneeling before me in seconds. As for being wise and intelligent, well, I can only be as smart as the author," I tell the man.

"What was that last part?" He questions with a weird look on his face.

"What?" Don't question the fourth wall break. "Anyways, you were right about me bringing you here to make you a hero in another world. I will give you one wish with almost no limitations. How about you tell me your name and what you desire for your power before I give you a briefing about the world you are heading to. Choose well because you're going to need all the power you can get."

"My name is Izuya Fumitaro, and for my power…." The man, now identified as Izuya, falls into deep thought for a few seconds before looking up at me with stars in his eyes. "Give me one of those overpowered systems from all the novels I read in my life!"

"Sure, that's a common wish from anyone going to another world so it can be easily done." I can't say I didn't see that one coming. Systems are frankly quite versatile, a good choice for anyone traveling to another world.

"Now then, the world you are heading to is called Cunabula. The world has all you can expect from a fantasy world: elves, beastmen, dragons, demons, magic, and much more. It is unique as it was the first world to be born. It is also the world I was born in." I explained to Izuya, who looked just about ready to depart as soon as I mentioned magic.

"I was born in a small town on the outskirts of the human empire during a time where gods didn't exist yet. I never knew my parents as they both died when I was young, but thankfully I had my twin brother Nevil, who I grew up with in the local orphanage. I'll spare you the details as I'm sure you're eager to get going, but Nevil and I set out on a journey to become the strongest in the world and achieved it after many years of hardship. Together we awakened the first divinity that could have made us omnipotent and agreed to split it in half so both of us could have equal power." I briefly stop my story reminiscing about the old times, but a cough from Izuya soon brings me back to the present.

"Right… where was I? Unfortunately, the power didn't seem to be enough for my brother as not even a week later he tried to kill me in my sleep to take my half of the power for himself. A fight broke out between us, and in the end, I won. Not having the heart to kill my own brother, I instead sealed him away far in the north. Soon enough, though, his aura started leaking from the seal and turned all the living beings near the place into his loyal servants, demons." I continue with my tale.

"That all happened trillions of years ago. Since then, I created more gods, millions of new worlds and tried my best to keep Nevil sealed. Recently, however, I started noticing the seal weakening, and no matter what I do, I won't be able to keep him sealed for longer than ten years. The people of Cunabula have also noticed this. The demons are looking forward to the awakening of their creator and preparing for a colossal war against the rest of the world. Meanwhile, the humans are prophesying the rise of the demon lord and getting ready to summon a hero to help them terminate the threat." I finally finished my story with a heavy sigh.

"Well, I understand what you want me to do now, but why don't you just send one of your gods to do the dirty work or just go yourself?" Izuya asks the obvious question.

"All the gods here in heaven serve essential roles. Leaving their post could be detrimental to numerous other worlds. As for me, I prefer not to fight against the last member of the family I have left." I tell Izuya. "Ready to get going now? For some extra motivation, I'll tell you that I have a reward for you as soon as you finish your mission."

"Yeap, I'm all good to go, but before that, you never did tell me your name," Izuya says after finishing off his tea and standing up.

"Most know me as Kira, the first God," I answer Izuya's question as he is already fading away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[15 years later, Izuya POV]

"Fuck you, you annoying asshole!" I shout as I finally stab my sword into the demon king's heart.

Ever since the demon king broke his seal and reentered the world, he has been nothing but trouble.

Of course, I didn't expect the demon king to just sit content in his castle and wait while I grow stronger like all the light novels, but I didn't expect him to come at us as hard and quick as he did.

The first ten years in Cunabula were pretty good for me. I traveled around the world, convincing all of the races to train me and teach me their signature skills and magic. I even managed to get them all to unite as the Anti-Demon Alliance so they could work together against the imminent danger.

I formed my own team to fight the demon army. The fact that everyone joining my team was female escaped my mind until it was too late, and I had accidentally formed a harem.

Leveling up, clearing dungeons, killing bandits. I did everything that you might expect a hero to do.

Things got real rough on the 10th year however, as the demon king awakened, he ordered his army to attack the alliance. We were able to hold back the demons, but many died in the battles.

The last five years had been incredibly rough as we slowly pushed our way towards the heart of demons' lands.

Nevertheless, everything had been worth it for this moment here. After a long and hard-fought battle, I managed to defeat Nevil and end the suffering once and for all.

"You think killing me will be this easy? You will never get rid of m…." As per tradition, the bad guy starts trying to monologue, but I cut him off quite literally by chopping off his head. I'm way too tired to listen to him right now.

[DING!]

[TELEPORTING NOW]

As Izuya's body started fading away, just like all those years ago when he first came to Cunabula, he overlooked the small piece of soul moving from Nevil's body and attaching itself deep into Izuya's soul.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Kira POV]

"Welcome back. I see you have completed your quest." I greet Izuya as he is teleported into my office. I've been looking forward to this moment ever since he first set out on his journey.

"Good to see you again, and yes, I killed Nevil even if it was a lot more difficult than I imagined," Izuya tells me while casting some healing magic to regrow his lost left arm and treat the many cuts on his body followed by lifestyle magic to clean his face and armor of blood.

"The system told me I would get my reward for finishing the main quest from you directly" He quickly turns to me with an eager expression.

"Indeed you will. The reward is more of a duty or a job than anything, though a new main quest if you will." I say as I watch Izuya's face quickly turn into a frown. "Don't look so worried. The job comes with many benefits for yourself and anyone close to you."

"What are you talking about here? And why the hell are you wearing a coat and packing a suitcase?" He inquires, seeming very confused.

"I'll be giving you part of Nevil's power that escaped his body when you killed him, effectively making you a god. You and anyone you want can be immortal." I finally finish my packing and walk towards the door with my suitcase in hand. "As of today, I'm retiring and leaving the position of head god to you. Good luck on not having the omniverse fall apart kid, I left a little guide on running things on the table over there."

"And where will you be going then? I can't imagine you had a retirement plan ready?" Izuya asks with a dumbfounded face. I don't think he really expected this.

"I'm thinking about opening up a cafe for any fated people in the multiverse. Feel free to drop by whenever you feel like." I say and step out of the door to a more relaxing life.
