"The Tier system is a grading scheme that the corps came up with. They begin selling their weapons and armor based on this one rating, and naturally, everyone follows suit. As you are aware, you can get subdural armor and other enhancements. These implants naturally are Tier 2 or 3 and can stop any damage below that rating from harming your body too much other than some blunt trauma to your skin. You see, this jacket that I'm wearing is graded Tier-3, so it can stop any bullet from puncturing for a while, so I would have time to dodge or hide unless the bullet is made out of Tier-4 material." AN—I decided to delay exploring Night City as, without any assurances, I don't think anyone would dare venture out into the streets. Nooa would go out, quite possibly at the end of the next chapter, and as you can tell, this story would slowly progress. The timeline I had selected is almost a year and a half before the heist!

I twirled the knife in my right hand as I looked down at the comfortable backhand grip I now had instead of holding the knife like a sword. I followed the unfamiliar muscle memory that I now had ingrained into my brain and kept the knife close. With my left hand forming a fist for my right hand with the knife ready to attack.
