I didn't like Paul's character in the book. There is no justification for his tyranny, killing billions of people, subjugating humanity and forcing them to follow his religion. He had become a cruel person, worse than his grandfather Baron Vladimir and the Emperor combined. He saw the Golden Path and rejected it , placing the burden of saving humanity on the shoulders of his son Leto II. So, Paul was truly a coward. He didn't really help anyone but himself. He was selfish in the end. He didn't care if humanity became extinct or not. He was the only one who could prevent this, but he did not, and preferred himself to the human race. complete Leto II, although a more terrible tyrant than his father, is actually the hero of the series and does not care about himself, unlike his father.
