An average person will have a family or orphanage that will support you when you are 15. in a first world country atleast. Having some sheltered kid become a runaway in middle school wouldn’t train the next heir. You’d be lucky if he didn’t end up kidnapped or addicted to drugs. If they trained him in combat then he’d just end up a criminal.
The Reyes family began this tradition to ensure that the next generation would value the empire they had built, so that the next heir wouldn't take the money that would someday be handed down to them for granted.

I think having a 15 year old becoming homeless would defeat the purpose. A large chance that he would resort to crime, kidnapped, or other activities. It makes sense to give him a home. I mean how many 15 year olds don’t have a roof over their heads in a first world country ? I think people are forgetting his age lol he’s in middle school.
