Mallory's eyes shot wide open from across the table, as she shot Hadeon a glare for his playful antics. Meanwhile, Sable seemed momentarily baffled, caught between the 'wifey' comment and Hadeon's unexpected question.

The ends of Hadeon's lips stretched into a broad grin, his eyes twinkling as he remarked, "So it doesn't matter that she could have eaten children's organs, because she was nice to you?"

"Yes, Lord Hadeon!" George replied with gusto, quickly stepping aside to make room for the butler, when he suddenly heard Hadeon's voice call out, "Wifey."

"Where have you been all night?! Hadeon wasn't in the castle either!" George's voice was thick with concern, and his brows knitted in a serious interrogation mode. "Did you roll in the mud?"

Hadeon continued his bedtime story in a serious voice, "So what happens is that the vampire attends a ball after this huge makeover, that is, he turns into a human from a vampire. And then, while dancing, he meets this princess, who is a human."

"Because Heaven is too meticulous to make such a mistake and they follow rules. Unlike us people from Hell," Hadeon hummed with a thoughtful expression. "The most important question is not how, but who hoodwinked the Death's assistant into not having you written."

"My soul can't belong to hell, though," Mallory replied with her eyebrows furrowed. "You said serpents were bound to end up there, but I am not one of them anymore, ha!"

"How intriguing," Hadeon had responded, a playful smirk curling his lips. The Scrolls were ancient, chronicling beings from both earthly realms and the world beyond the living. "She must be an angel."

Hadeon's smile grew mischievous in the dim light, his eyes glinting with a playful darkness. He responded, his voice carrying a hint of teasing, "While the image of you chasing rabbits at midnight is quite delightful, I must confess, you're the more intriguing prey tonight, far surpassing any feathered or furry creature."

Mallory bit the inside of her cheek for keeping her hands in view of the middle-aged couple. Turning to Hadeon for assistance, she found him barely suppressing a chuckle before he answered, "Ah, that's because Mon-Mon here insisted she didn't need a fancy ring to prove my undying affection for her."
