Capítulo 22: Fighting Lucas Platchi's Group

"Who are you? What do you want?", Rex asks with a frown.

Getting into his battle stance in response to Lucas approaching with killing intent, Rex puts his senses to the max in case a sudden fight will break out between them.

Upon hearing this, Lucas laughs out loud with his maniacal voice.

After laughing to his heart's content finding that Rex is still oblivious to the situation he's in, Lucas holds his hair with his other hand like a lunatic, "You dare to steal my girl and instead of letting yourself get beaten, you dare beat up my subordinates?!"

"Your presumptuousness knows no bound, non-Awakened!", he added condescendingly.

Rex knitted his eyebrows together finding that Lucas overreact for wanting to kill him, he glances at Rosie on the side to only find her throwing her face away unable to maintain eye contact.

'Well whatever, a deal is a deal'

Since he has already made a deal with Rosie, he can only see it through to the end.

Averting his gaze back to Lucas again, Rex then said without a hint of fright on his face, "First of all, she's not your girl but mine. Secondly, what kind of logic is that? Are you sick in the brain?"

Upon hearing this, Lucas's face heats up in anger.

The words that come out of Rex's mouth make his mood fouler, it's been so long since someone dares to talk back to him like this, "Do you know who you're talking to? Do you know who I am?"

"I'm Lucas Platchi from the Platchi family! You dare offend me?!"

Responding the same way Lucas did earlier, Rex laughs out loud bringing shame to Lucas's face.

"Dare to offend you? In my eyes, you're just a brat who only hides behind the shadow of your family's name. Do you know what that makes you? Trash!"

"You...!"

Lucas pointed his finger at Rex with veins popping on his neck, his eyes turns bloodshot and his chest heaves up and down corresponding with his heavy breath caused by the anger welling inside of him.

If eyes can kill, he might already kill Rex multiple times but he soon calmed himself down.

"Why do I get so worked up for... there's no use talking to a dead man", Lucas smiled sinisterly.

Out of nowhere, a notification from the system pops into Rex's vision.

<DING!!>

Lucas's group has come to take revenge for the user's action of stealing Rosie and beating up his subordinates, they intend to kill the user. Survive the current situation without any casualties.

'Nice, there is no other choice than', Rex thought after being given a sudden quest by the system.

The four guys beside Lucas wear the same combat suit as Lucas, from the looks of it, it's top-quality equipment. Two of them didn't bring a weapon, the other two brings a dagger and a sword respectively.

Rex's eyes darted left and right analyzing the enemies standing in front of him.

'Two Elementalist and two magic fighters, they all are peak rank two Awakened'

After analyzing the enemies Rex then glances at Rosie and Adhara standing on either of his sides, 'Rosie can't possibly help, that leaves us to Adhara. Judging from Lucas's temper, he probably will aim at the girls if he's backed into a corner. I need to watch out for that'

Leaning her head towards Rex from the side, Adhara then whispers.

"What should we do? That grey stone they are holding is a magic stone to block sound from coming out while the red stone is some kind of offensive spell, we're not in a great spot"

Hearing this, Rex was pulled in thoughts, 'The grey stone can block the sounds so the lecturers will not notice, the red stone is probably a higher rank offensive spell. Out of the two, I need to get rid of the red stone first because I can sense danger from it"

While Rex was creating a plan in his head, he senses something beneath him.

"Hmm...?"

Upon realizing the thing that he sensed beneath him, Rex can't help but smiles sinisterly.

Wanting to exterminate the silence of their stand-offs, Lucas's group started to move. Each of them emits their own Elemental auras respectfully, increasing their physical prowess a notch. The power that comes from Lucas's group frightens Adhara.

Although she is also a peak rank two Awakened, she knows that this is very bad.

Everyone in Lucas's group is in the same realm as her and some of them are even stronger, facing a group of people with the same rank frightens her. But glancing to the side she finds Rex who is as calm as water.

She gains courage just from looking at Rex which makes her more confident in winning.

"Adhara, can you create a mini-explosion behind my elbows?", Rex whispers softly without even glancing at Adhara, his eyes are focusing on the approaching enemies in front of him.

Adhara frowns from the sudden question, "I probably can, but why?"

"Just do it when I give you the signal", Rex hurriedly replied forcing a nod from Adhara.

Lucas is standing ten meters away while resting his saber on his shoulder, there's a grin plastered on his face as he points his saber at Rex, "KILL HIM!", he commanded to his subordinates.

Whoosh!!

After Lucas said that, two guys blitzed from their spot. One with a sword and one with a dagger.

"Just ignore the girls, I will surely have fun with them after we kill him. Focus on that trash first", Lucas added as the two guys dashed at Rex, there's lust plastered obviously on his face.

Ignoring Lucas's disgusting remarks, Rex finds that the two guys are quite fast.

Were he still a normal person then he will only see two shadows flashing, but not now. Rex narrowed his eyes and puts his concentration to the maximum, he can see the two guys' movement but it is still fast especially the guy with the dagger.

Rex pushes Adhara out of the way and brings his hands up in front of him in defense.

Taking a couple of wide steps, the guy with a dagger jumps high leaving a trail of wind behind him.

Clenching his dagger tightly, he swings his arm aiming at Rex.

Not intending to let himself get slashed by the dagger, Rex leans his body to the right dodging the dagger by a hair's length. He can see the dagger slash past his head but then suddenly.

Slash!

Rex feel a sting on his cheek as it got slashed by the dagger.

Knowing full well that he perfectly dodged the dagger he was shocked by this turn of events, but then he noticed that the tip of the dagger is covered by a green hue that made it longer. Rex backflipped trying to make a breathing space.

But suddenly he saw a sword coming at him from his right.

With his insane reflex, Rex's eyes dilated before he twists his torso and jumps backward.

Bam!

Upon missing its mark, the sword hit the ground and creates a crack. Even though he missed, the guy with the sword didn't move when he missed the slash. He just stayed there with the sword embedded in the ground.

Rex is still mid-air when he saw the elemental aura around the guy with the sword get violent.

Crack!

Out of nowhere, an earth spike comes out of the ground just a couple of meters away from the guy with the sword. It was very sudden and Rex didn't have the time to dodge! Clearly, he was caught off guard.

Showing off his experience in fighting, Rex crosses his arms in front of him.

Even in the heat of the battle, his mind is still clear and he realizes that there's nothing he can do except to take the hit. But turns out he got some help, Adhara didn't let the earth spike hit him.

"Ignite!"

Bam!

Creating a small explosion, Adhara destroys the tip of the earth spike making it dull.

Looking at the dull earth spike, Rex realized that the threat brought by it was greatly reduced because the tip is dull. Without much thought, he punched it and shattered it into pieces.

The guy with the sword was shocked when he saw Rex destroy his earth spike.

Using that little gap of surprise from him destroying the earth spike, Rex flash steps toward the guy with the sword just a second after his feet touch the ground. It surprised the guy with the sword judging from his eyes widening.

Out of panic, the guy with the sword waves his hand and summons a wall made of rock.

"Wall of Rock!"

Crack!

Rex pulls his arm back intending to punch the wall, but then suddenly he exposes an evil grin.

Instead of punching the wall, he steps on the wall and launches himself toward the guy with the dagger that wanted to ambush him from the back. Rex already sensed the guy with the dagger creeping on his back.

Seeing that Rex launches straight at him, the guy with the dagger was caught in surprise.

Rex wanting to punch the wall of rock is just a fluke!

Upon nearing the guy with the dagger that is still dazed from the fluke, he then crosses his arms on his front to block the incoming punch from Rex. But as Rex drives his fist forward, he suddenly shouted, "Now!!"

Hearing this signal from Rex, Adhara musters her elemental mana.

In just a second his body started emitting a red aura, she pointed her hand forward before she creates a mini-explosion just behind Rex's elbow that propelled his fist forward faster.

Boom!

Rex can feel the propelling force pushing his arm forward, his punch was accelerated by the mini-explosion from behind his elbow. With that, his fist travels so fast that the guy with the dagger can only grit his teeth to prepare for the punch.

But when his fist is a couple of inches away from the guy's face, a barrier appeared.

It was a translucent barrier of water that shields the guy from the punch, but Rex's eyes glistened with brutality as he didn't stop driving his fist forward, "Force Beam!"

Rex's fist that is strong enough to hurt a rank three Awakened becomes even stronger!

A faint white hue started to be released by Rex's fist, and without a doubt, this punch he was launching right now is the strongest attack that Rex has ever made.

Crack!

Just like punching a fragile glass, Rex's fist shatered the water barrier shielding the guy.

Some of the force got absorbed by the water barrier but his fist didn't stop moving forward, the trajectory of his fist was altered a bit as he punches the guy right on his guts powerfully.

Bam!!!

Upon feeling the power behind the punch, the guy spits a mouthful of blood.

The wrecking force got transferred onto the guy's body as he got sent crashing very hard into the ground and bounced back up, his entire body is rattled as he can see the world spinning. His entire body is paralyzed for a second.

Before he can recover, Rex follows with a roundhouse kick.

Bam!

Rex's roundhouse kick landed on the same spot bending the guy's body before sending him crashing onto the maze wall, it's a rapid succession of attacks and without a doubt, the guy will not recover easily from that.

Lucas's group sucked in a cold breath, the power that Rex shows makes them shudder in fear.

'T-That's the power of a non-Awakened?!'

'How could this be?!'

Everyone in Lucas's group can't help but exclaim inside their heads from the scene that they have just watched, there were not expecting such a fight from a non-Awakened like Rex. Amidst the dust of battle, Rex's eyes shine a fierce glint as he looks at Lucas.

Under the fierce gaze, Lucas felt his throat dry and it was very hard to swallow.

'How can he be so strong?! This is not possible, he's just a non-Awakened!'

Rex cracked his knuckles menacingly upon seeing the fearful expression Lucas is wearing, he then out of nowhere stomps on the ground with his Force Beam skill.

Crack!!!

From that powerful stomp, a web-like crack was created beneath his feet.

The power that Rex got from attributing to his strength shows on full display, he cracked a devilish smile tilting his head a little with his eyes still on Lucas, "What's the matter? I thought you were going to kill me, can't you see that I'm waiting for it?"

After saying that, Rex takes advantage of their shock and dashes at the guy holding a sword.

The guy snapped from his daze but it was too late to react.

Rex's fist is already a couple of inches away before being plunged onto his face, if the guy with the dagger spat a mouthful of blood from his punch then the damage to the face should be more severe.

Bam!

Upon receiving the punch, the guy flung away rolling on the ground before crashing on the maze wall. The guy didn't stand back up from that, it's clear that he was unconscious.

It lifted his spirit every time the system's notification appears in front of his vision.

Rex then focuses back on the frozen Lucas before he said mockingly, even his expression showing the disgust he bore towards Lucas, "Don't tell me that this is the extent of the mighty Lucas Platchi from the Platchi Family, trash!"

Hearing the burning mockery, Lucas's eyes turn bloodshot.

"YOU...! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

Just like rubbing salt on the wound, Rex laughs loudly in response to Lucas's anger.

"To think that everybody is scared of a wimp like you, I'm really losing hope on Ochyra University's students", Rex mocks once again before he stomps on the ground again using his Force Beam.

Bam!

Under the stomp, the crack beneath his feet becomes larger.

"Come on, What are you waiting for? Come and try killing me", Rex taunted with a nasty grin.

Finding that he can't bear any more mockery, especially from a non-Awakened like Rex, Lucas's anger has reached its limit. Grabbing the red stone from the guy beside him, he then shouted maniacally like a crazy person, "You forced me, Rex! I will honor you by dying with this magic!"

Lucas holds the red stone up with extreme care.

But as if he's not fazed at all from the red stone, Rex stomps the ground forcefully once again.

Bam!!

"I'm waiting for you! Trash, no matter what I will not lose to a bug like you!"

Although they were surprised that Rex managed to take on two of Lucas's subordinates with little help, Rosie and Adhara were confused as to why Rex is taunting Lucas this much. The elemental mana coming from the red stone indicates that it's at least a mid-third rank spell.

"Rex! Stop taunting him!", Rosie shouted seeing Rex taunting Lucas recklessly.

It didn't take long before the red stone in Lucas's hand started to glow brightly, Rex gritted his teeth upon realizing that he was out of time. But still, he stomps the ground powerfully once more.

'Come on! Wake up!'

Lucas glares at Rex as the stone grows more brightly, fire started to circle around the red stone.

"This is the end, you're going to die here! FIRE NOVA!"

Upon the chant from Lucas, the fire started to concentrate into a single point before turning into a circle of fire. Rex keeps stomping his feet multiple times, the ground is a mess because of his stomps.

But then suddenly, the red stone fires a fire beam towards Rex that burns everything in its path.

Boom!!!

Rex started to sweat profusely upon seeing the approaching fire beam, he musters all of his strength into his legs to do one last stomp, "GET UP RIGHT NOW!!!"

Bam!

Just after Rex stomped the ground once last time, a huge skeleton burst from the ground.

ROAAAR!!
