Capítulo 5: Completing the Mission

After receiving the System's explanation on 'potential mates', Zeta was faced with a choice. Did he want to kill Rhino, or spare him?

Points are extremely important at the moment as strength in this universe in mandatory. However, looking at this from another point of view, getting another companion will cost 500 points. And it'll only increase from there. If he could get companions without the need for spending points, then he'll be better off.

Of course, it'll cost points indirectly, but having loyal people who can fight like Gwen that can double down as a girlfriend can only spell good things.

Another thing to consider, the system mentions nothing of decreasing affinity should he kill Rhino. Judging by Felicia's expression, she'd like him less should he kill Rhino, and the spider-people hate killing above all.

The fact that the system doesn't have a [Penalty] segment is probably a sign that it will only tell you the benefits of an action.

Lastly, if he really felt the urge to kill again, he'd just kill a random civilian. It's not like anyone would be able to identify how they died, much less link it back to him.

So, the choice came down to; Become a Space Marine or get closer to 2 valuable people.

In the end, Zeta smiled and rose his Laspistol and aimed it at the Rhino rampaging through the streets. Only Felicia noticed Zeta, as everyone else was focused on the big commotion. His Laspistol charged up the shot, light could be seen converging at the end of the barrel.

*PEW*

A pitiful sounding shot rang out through the street.

The two spider-people were chasing the armored man. Gwen chased Rhino by gracefully springing herself off of buildings while performing ballet. On the other hand, Miles was mainly free running through the streets, using his webs to propel him forwards every now and then. He traversed the streets with all the exaggerated swagger of a black teen.

The two of them chased Rhino for far longer than they wanted. The streets were shattered and destroyed after Rhino had passed through them. The sheer amount of destroyed vehicles was astronomical.

However, seemingly out of nowhere, Rhino's left leg disappeared. The armored man promptly fell and slid along the ground. It took him moments to understand what had happened to him. Blood poured out of the wound, showing no hesitation.

"ARGGGHHHH!" He screamed out in agony. Getting your leg blown off was one thing, not knowing if what blew off your leg was still around was another thing entirely.

The two spider-people were stunning for a while. Their job had gotten easier sure, but his leg just disappeared! Not severed, completely disappeared. No ground or rubble that surrounded the man disappeared with his leg, it just vanished.

They returned from their shock to find a devilishly handsome man approach the downed Rhino.

"Can you shut up? Your screams are grating." The man spoke. The two spider-people found a futuristic laser pistol in his hand, which was soon pointed at the 3-limbbed man.

"You two, hurry up and detain him." The handsome man spoke to Gwen and Miles.

"Why did you do that?" Felicia and Miles yelled simultaneously. They both flinched out of recognition of each other.

"You told me not to kill him, so I didn't." Zeta replied, facing Felicia.

[Mission Complete!

Rewards: 50 points, Increased affinity with 2 potential mates.]

"..." Felicia facepalmed. She forgot she was dealing with a war-hardened alien.

"Please come with us." Gwen spoke. It took everything Zeta had to not perv on the hottie in the skin-tight hero suit. Gwen didn't attack him outright for multiple reasons; firstly, he got rid of Rhino's leg which was fully armored before anyone could realize what was happening. Not to mention, he seemed to have good intentions regardless of his actions.

If she could get the mysterious man to side help her with future threats without almost killing them, her job would get much easier.

"Sure." Zeta replied with a smile.

"I'm coming as well." Felicia interjected. Her wall hasn't been repaired yet, she still needed him. She also couldn't allow him to give Gwen a Laspistol because of a misunderstanding as he did to her.

"What are you doing Gwe- Spider-woman? He almost just killed Rhino. We have to take him to the police station!" Miles argued.

"Letting Peter handle this is probably the best move. We don't have as much experience with alien weaponry." She spoke while eyeing the weapon in Zeta's hand. It didn't help to ease her nerves when the weapon disappeared just as Rhino's leg had done. "Just take care of Rhino." She told Miles.

After a while, Zeta was in an office. Peter Parker in his spider-man outfit sat in the opposite seat with Gwen stood up beside him.

Felicia sat next to Zeta. Silence filled the room as Peter eyed everyone in the room, obviously confused.

"Explain the situation, please." He asked Gwen.

Of course, what followed was a lengthy explanation of what occurred.

"...so why did you bring him here?" Peter pointed at the smiling alien.

"To help us. It's obvious that he has technology that'd be able to assist us, even the Avengers! And if he won't help us, you can just call the Avengers to lock him up or something!" Gwen argued.

"He almost killed Rhino!" Peter replied.

"Listen! This is the first time we've found someone so dangerous that doesn't fit the category of villain or hero! If we don't bring him to our side, then we'll have a very dangerous enemy!" Gwen yelled.

"..." Peter stayed silent.

"Shall I explain why I'm here and such?" Felicia interfered. It did confuse Peter as to why she'd be here with the man that Gwen brought in.

"Go ahead." He sighed.

"Earlier today, I found this man in my apartment, in World War 2 attire and a gas mask. Obviously, seeing an intruder, I wanted to kick his ass. Unfortunately, he got the better of me." Felicia explained. "Long story short, he's an alien." He skipped a large part of the story.

"...an alien?" Peter questioned.

"An alien." She confirmed. Peter looked over to Zeta who was silently smiling at the girls.

"Any confirmation as to your status as an alien?" He asked Zeta.

"Of course." Zeta replied. Summoning the Laspistol and pointing it at Peter. Gwen and Felicia tensed up, remembering the power of the weapon. However, Peter was unfazed, his Spidey-senses didn't warn him of anything.

"...this definitely isn't a weapon from Earth. Or even from the alien invasion that happened a while ago." He inspected.

'Gwen bringing me in, and Felicia defending me. This is my reward? I'll take it.' Zeta thought on his reward that was already bringing in benefits. Despite 'affection' not being measures, the effects could be seen.

"..." Peter thought on his options. There were multiple ways he could go about this. Pass him over to the Avengers, either to join them or to be jailed by them. He could try and detain him now while he was right in the same room as Peter. Or, he could try and personally train him to become a hero, or at least somebody better.

The answer was obvious, hand them over to the Avengers. However, the last time he told Tony about alien weaponry, he was ignored until he was scolded for trying to take it on himself.

"What's your name?" Pater asked.

"I thought that it was common courtesy in this world to tell your own name before asking for others?" Zeta smiled.

"Why should I tell someone I don't trust my real name?" Peter questioned.

"You shouldn't." Zeta replied.

"..." Peter was on the verge of handing him over to the Avengers. Gwen in the corner sighed.

"I'm Gwen." She took off her mask. The animated movie really did her no justice, her punk-rock aesthetic really shone through in person.

"I'm Zeta." He introduced himself.

"What are you doing Gwen?" Peter questioned.

"How is he supposed to trust us if we don't trust him?" Gwen counter-argued. In the moment, she didn't realize how out of character this was.

Peter didn't reply, he simply left the room and checked his contacts.

[Dad 2.0 - Tony Stark]

He called him.

"What's up, kid?" The phone asked.

"There's an alien here. Not hostile at the moment. He shot off Rhino's leg with one shot of an unknown weapon." Peter explained.

"Who's Rhino? Don't answer that, I don't care. If it isn't killing everything, it's probably just some random guy wanting attention. Just kick him out." The phone hung up before Peter could reply. Therefore, he tried a different number.

[Mom 2.0 - Natasha]

"Hello?" Natasha answered.

"There's an alien here. I don't really know how to handle him." Peter pinched his brow through his suit.

"You didn't ask Stark?" She inquired.

"He hung up as soon as I told him." He complained.

"...I'll be there." She sighed.

(A.N. In case you guys are wondering or worrying, the main character will have minimal contact with the Avenger for a while. I don't want it to seem like I'm just throwing all the women at him all of a sudden, but I could only really see Peter getting close to Tony, Natasha and maybe Clint.)

(A.N.2. I didn't see Gwen or Miles letting him go after seeing him almost kill Rhino. So, this is where it went. Please tell me what you think of it so far!)
