Laney looked at Richard like he was crazy when he finally did remember to ask. "You want to know what Lissy likes?"

"I need to get her a good birthday present," he explained. "So she won't be as suspicious of me."

"Oh, okay. Well, she loves Hello Kitty…stuffed animals…pretty dresses…and ice skating. That's probably her favorite thing in the world. I swear, I know more about the world of professional figure skating than anyone who isn't personally interested ever should. She wants to be one but it's an expensive sport and with her health…"

Hmm. Richard could potentially work with this. 

"Does she just like watching it or does she actually know of the individual athletes in the professional circuit?"

"She actually knows of them. Why do you ask?" Laney asked curiously.

"I might be able to call in a favor," Richard admitted without elaborating. He wasn't sure how busy his contact was and didn't want to say anything until he was sure.
