Capítulo 11: Team RK
After defeating the Warden and unlocking his Semblance, Ryder managed to find Ruby, Yang and the others. They had fought and defeated both the Nevermore and the Deathstalker. Ruby and Yang where glad that Ryder was okay as they feared that the Warden had killed him. When the group returned to Beacon, they were all taken to the Auditorium, or as Ryder calls it the Arena. There was a crowd of already existing Students of Beacon and some of the Initiation participants. Each group of 4 was called up to the stage one by one as Teams were formed. Each team consisted of 4 people and had a Leader. Ryder stood behind Ruby, Yang, Weiss and Blake while Jaune, Nora, Ren and Pyrrha stood before them. The first group walked onto the stage as Ozpin called their names.
"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark." Ozpin said.
As he spoke, the screen above him showed the pictures of each individual with the first letter of their first name under the picture.
"The Four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL (Cardinal), led by... Cardin Winchester!" Ozpin declared.
The audience either claps or cheers, welcoming the new students to Beacon. They are dismissed and the next group steps onto the stage. It's a familiar group to Ryder who is actually nervous.
"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR." Ozpin said.
During the audience's clapping, Nora laughs and hugs Ren who didn't expect to be hugged.
"Led by... Jaune Arc!" Ozpin declared.
Jaune was caught off guard by this declaration.
"L-Led by?" Jaune repeats.
"Congratulations, young man." Ozpin said.
With a grin, Pyrrha lends a friendly shoulder bump to Jaune, but her leader was knocked over and falls on his butt in front of the audience who laughs. Team JNPR is dismissed, and they walk off the stage. The next group steps onto the stage and walked to Ozpin while he called their names.
"Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the White Knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" Ozpin declared.
Hearing this, Ryder was actually proud of Ruby. Yang was as well. Weiss on the other hand was shocked by this news and looked at Ruby in shock. Yang rushed over and hugged her sister, proud of her. They are dismissed and as they step off the stage, Ryder inhales and exhales, calming his nerves as he and his teammate walked onto the stage.
"And finally. Ryder Falcone, Kairos Hawthorne. The two of you retrieved the Black King piece. While there isn't another party who claimed the piece, I decided to make history. For the first time in this Academy's long history, we will have a two-man team. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RK (Rook), Led by.... Ryder Falcone." Ozpin said/Declared.
Both Kairos and Ryder were shocked but for different reasons. Ryder was surprised that he even got into Beacon and was a part of the first Two-man team. Kairos was shocked because Ryder was made leader.
"It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year." Ozpin comments before he walked over to Ryder.
Ryder snapped out of his shock as he and Kairos looked at Ozpin.
"If you don't mind, I would like to speak to you about that new Grimm you and Mr. Hawthorne faced during initiation." Ozpin said.
"Should I come with, sir?" Kairos asked.
"No. I only wish to speak to Mr. Falcone. He was the one who discovered it after all." Ozpin said.
Kairos sighed a bit. Ryder didn't understand his deal. Eventually, all of the students both new and old went to the Dormitories. The new students were assigned dorms and each team shared a dorm. That means Ryder and Kairos shared a dorm. But after everything about the initiation calms down, Ozpin took him to his office. They both stood in the elevator as they rode it to the top of Beacon tower where Ozpin's office was. Ryder didn't understand the need for such a large tower but remembered the CCT's exist. The Cross Continental Tower acts as the means to establish global communications since they don't use Satellites. Ozpin's office just sits on top of the tower. When they arrive, Ryder hears a ding. The doors open and Ozpin walks into his office, cane in hand. Ryder followed him into the room and the elevator door closes behind them. Ozpin remains silent as he walked around his desk to take a seat. Ryder stood in front of his desk and watched as Ozpin sat down. Once seated, Ozpin rested his cane up against the desk and turned his attention to Ryder.
"Now, what exactly can you tell me about this new Grimm?" Ozpin asks.
"Well, it's body is almost like armor. My normal attacks barely cracked it but once i got my Semblance, I started to do some real damage." Ryder explains. "It also can release Sonic Waves and fire from its mouth, oh and fly."
"And you are aware that this most likely won't be the last of these Grimm, right?" Ozpin asks.
"I'm more than aware and prepared to face another Warden." Ryder said.
"Warden?"
"Oh, that's what I called it." Ryder said.
"An interesting name." Ozpin comments. "However, that Warden isn't the only thing that caught my interest."
Ryder was now officially confused.
"I've noticed that your semblance appears to amplify your abilities, but do you even understand it fully?" Ozpin asks.
"No. I just unlocked it so no." Ryder answered.
"Well, there are different types of Semblances, all ranging from extremely powerful to what others would call useless. But you possess a rare breed of Semblances never seen in hundreds of years." Ozpin said.
"That being?" Ryder beckons.
"Tell me, what did it feel like when you had your Aura activated?" Ozpin asks.
"It felt like I was energized. Almost natural at the same time." Ryder replied. "What did you mean by rare breed of semblance?"
"there is a breed of semblances called Evolutionary Semblances. These Semblances are known for their Infinite Evolutionary potential. While all Semblances can evolve and change, Evolutionary Semblances are known to have infinite potential in growth and to be more dramatic. Evolution is everything with these types of Semblances. They start off weak, but with enough training and time, they can rival even the most powerful of entity's." Ozpin explains.
"So I got an Evolutionary Semblance? What do I call my Semblance?" Ryder asks.
"Well, seeing as it amplified your abilities giving you increased strength and speed. Amplify seems to be a fitting name." Ozpin answered. "However, I recommend you train and hone your semblance. You could potentially become stronger than even me."
Ryder was surprised. He's heard how Ozpin is one of the Strongest Huntsmen in the world and in history, so now hearing he has the potential to surpass him shocked him to his core. How much power does he now possess? If he can truly boost his abilities to become stronger, surely, he will try to push the boost into a greater effect. He just needs to figure out how much of a multiplier is being used. Something like Times 4 or Times 8. but seeing as his abilities were increased and overpowered the Warden, he'll say Times 2 or 3. A question then popped into his mind.
"What about Kairos?" Ryder asks.
"Mr. Hawthorne does possess an Evolutionary Semblance and he is already aware. He is Glynda's protégé after all." Ozpin said.
Ryder nods, accepting this information. With this in mind, he and Kairos could become the strongest here at Beacon if they train hard enough. This almost reminds him of Dragon Ball Z.
"While I appreciate this chat, I believe it's time you return to your dorm to prepare for classes tomorrow." Ozpin said.
"Oh, right. Of course." Ryder said with a nod before he turned and walked towards the elevator.
The elevator opens and Glynda Goodwitch walks out. She steps aside and lets Ryder enter the elevator. Once it closes after he pressed a button, Glynda walked towards Ozpin's desk.
"How much did you tell him?" Glynda asks.
"Only about his Semblance." Ozpin replied. "Though, that is common knowledge."
"So you didn't tell him about Salem?" Glynda asks.
"No."
"Why?" Glynda asks.
"He'll know. The time isn't right for him to learn about her. He needs to train and prove that he could become a valuable ally against her." Ozpin explained. "Both him and Kairos."
Glynda sighs, not liking this one bit.
"As much as I don't want to bring Kairos into this, having two people with Evolutionary Semblances will be a game changer." Glynda said, coming to terms with the facts.
"Exactly. Which is why they need time. Don't worry, Glynda. I have everything under control." Ozpin said.
