Phoebe Wood was stunned, yet Mrs. Clegg was laughing so hard that her eyes were almost closed.

"Oh my, our little Michael is so adept with his French! He's clearly from Paris, not some sheltered baby," Mrs. Clegg, said mockingly, a subtle insult to Phoebe Wood.

Initially, she thought that Phoebe was a decent girl, but after her recent mocking of Michael, Mrs. Clegg's feelings changed.

Worrying that Michael would be bullied without saying a word, who knew that just a casual remark from the little darling would leave Phoebe with no way to retaliate.

Mr. Clegg nodded at Phoebe: "Phoebe, as you can see, our Michael is very capable. He's not shy, he's just not familiar with you. It's a good habit not to follow strangers, it's an indication of high intelligence. He's very familiar with his grandparents, isn't he Michael?"

Upon hearing this, Michael blinked his big eyes and nodded incessantly.
