Capítulo 19: First Character Transformation

Miles stepped into the cabin and was shocked to see that it was completely empty. The thug's corpse, the injured one, the blood—everything was gone.

He walked further inside, his footsteps echoing in the eerie silence. The room was spotless, as if nothing had happened.

He inspected the surroundings in confusion, his mind racing. "How is this possible?" he muttered to himself, looking for any clues. There were no signs of a struggle, no bloodstains, no remnants of the violent encounter that had taken place a week earlier.

No matter how much he tried to wrap his head around it, he couldn't figure out what had happened. "Did someone clean this place up?" he wondered aloud. "But why? And who?"

After a thorough but fruitless search, Miles eventually returned to his dorm. He stayed up all night, unable to shake the unsettling mystery from his mind. Thoughts of the missing bodies, the clean cabin, and the implications swirled in his head.

There was no doubt that the authorities were unaware if not this would already be a case so who would go through so much trouble to hide what he had done?

The next day, despite his exhaustion, Miles and Tara submitted their project presentation along with many other students. The atmosphere in the classroom was tense, as everyone was anxious about their grades. Tara nudged him playfully.

"Relax, Miles. We did great," she said, smiling.

"Yeah, I know," he replied, forcing a smile. "Just have a lot on my mind."

They handed their project to the Professor, who gave them a nod of approval. "Excellent work, you two. I'm looking forward to your presentation," he said.

About thirty minutes later Miles and Tara exchanged relieved glances as they walked out of the classroom. Tara turned to him, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I think we nailed it."

"I hope so," Miles said, trying to share her enthusiasm. "Thanks for being such a great partner."

"Anytime," Tara replied with a grin. "We make a good team."

Miles decided to look for Derrick and Patrick. He checked the usual places they hung out but found no trace of them. Growing more concerned, he approached a group of their friends in the cafeteria.

"Hey, have you guys seen Derrick or Patrick around?" Miles asked.

One of them, a guy named Alex, shrugged. "No, man. Haven't seen them in days. They've been missing classes too."

"That's weird," Miles said, frowning. "Do you know where they might be?"

Another friend, Jake, shook his head. "No idea. They just vanished. Maybe they're somewhere having fun."

Miles felt a chill run down his spine. "Alright, thanks anyway."

'Somewhere having fun isn't possible... Not after what happened and the fact that exams are close.'

As he walked away, his mind raced with possibilities. What had happened to them?

The mystery deepened, and Miles felt a growing sense of urgency to uncover the truth.

Later, he headed to work, dreading the conversation he needed to have with his boss. When he arrived, Mr. Johnson was behind the counter, sorting through paperwork. He looked up as Miles entered, his expression stern.

"Miles, where have you been?" Mr. Johnson asked, his tone serious.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Johnson. I had some personal issues to deal with, but I'm back now," Miles explained, trying to sound sincere.

"Personal issues? You've been gone for a week without any notice," Mr. Johnson said, clearly frustrated. "Do you know how much that's disrupted things here?"

"I know, and I'm really sorry. It won't happen again," Miles promised.

Mr. Johnson sighed, shaking his head. "This is your last warning, Miles. We need reliability here. If you disappear again, I'll have no choice but to let you go."

"I understand. Thank you for giving me another chance," Miles said with a tone of gratitude.

The rest of the shift went by in a blur as Miles tried to focus on his work. After the store closed, he finally had time for his superhero duties. He changed into his dark outfit and mask, feeling a sense of purpose as he prepared to patrol the city.

He drove to a secluded area, the sound of the police radio he had fixed filling his car.

The dice materialized in his hand, the familiar weight grounding him. He took a deep breath and rolled the 'characters' dice for the first time. The dice clattered against the dashboard before settling on a number. He held his breath as the number '4' appeared on the surface.

'Wow... To think this would be my first transformation.'

A surge of energy coursed through Miles's body as he felt his form shifting. His skin became rough and green, resembling the texture of moss and bark. He could feel a deep connection to the earth, sensing the life force of every plant and tree around him.

"Whoa," he muttered, looking at his transformed hands. "This is incredible."

He stepped out of the car, feeling the ground beneath his feet in a way he never had before. The world seemed more vibrant, more alive. He could sense the roots of the trees, the flow of water beneath the earth, and the delicate balance of nature.

He was also bigger and taller with glowing menacing red eyes.

Just then, a voice crackled through the police radio. "All units, we have a 10-31 in progress at the old industrial area. Suspects are armed and dangerous. Proceed with caution."

Miles felt a surge of excitement. "Time to see what Swamp Thing can do," he said, heading toward the industrial area.

As he moved through the shadows, his new abilities allowed him to blend seamlessly with the environment.

As some of Swamp Thing's memories and experiences with using his abilities, drifted into Miles's mind, he instinctively morphed and burrowed into the ground like roots.

His formed moved beneath the surface of the earth, traveling towards the industrial area at breakneck speed.

When he arrived at the industrial area, he saw a group of armed men breaking into a warehouse. They were carrying crates and loading them into unmarked vans.

Miles couldn't tell what the contents of the crates were but he knew he had to act quickly.

He silently moved closer, using his new abilities to control the nearby plants. Vines and roots responded to his command, growing and snaking toward the men.

With a flick of his wrist, the vines wrapped around their legs, tripping them and causing chaos.

"What the hell?" one of the men shouted, struggling against the vines.

Miles stepped out of the shadows, his voice resonating with an otherworldly tone. "You're not going anywhere."

The men turned, their eyes widening in fear. "It's a monster!" one of them yelled, trying to free himself from the entangling vines.
