Resumen

Set in rural china the story is quite fascinating, as I’m from a western part of the world and love learning a bit about a culture so different from mine. If it’s true that even in the 1980s life could be so hard, just wow. I highly recommend :) There is domestic abuse/violence in the first chapter before the FL transmigrated back being a young teen.
This book is actually triggering for me to read. My own dad was also someone who others took advantage of because of filial piety/Confuscist values/saving face while his family had to pay for it endlessly. It’s just infuriating both in real life and in fiction. If you want to feel enraged at how much you have to fight when your own father is immature and hapless, but the social hierarchy gives him all the power, read on.
You can try reading this novel if you are ready to infuriate yourself to death.⚠️☠️ Same scenarios, same situations just in different timelines and context all because of the cowardice and peace loving nature of the parents. 😮💨The FL's stupid filial peace loving father does what he thinks is good for the world (or his relatives) instead of thinking about his family. 🙂↔️One such instance is that the father is ready to marry off his eldest daughter to a lame older uncle ( who he can call big brother) just for the sake of filial pity so that his biological mother isn't angered to death and doesn't fall sick. 😡😤☠️Clearly this scheme was concocted to find political connections for his nephew. 🤦Fast forward to the present chapters. 1. The FL's mother lets her shrew like, petty arrogant and disgusting niece in-law stay over when she wants to start a business as she doesn't have a house in the city even after knowing that she stole 20,000 from them. 🤬😡😡They don't discuss it in front of her maternal family so as to not cause friction.😑 2. The FL was kidnapped a second due to being with a General's daughter.😶 Even with a pig-headed teammate she used her brilliance to escape due to which she is targeted by the General's rivals.😮💨😤 Now Wei Ziyuan wants the FL to act as bait for a second kidnapping else she herself will go as the bait.🤬 The ML ( a police officer, they are not together yet) persuades her to act as bait and assured her he will ensure that no harm will come to her. He doesn't want Wei Ziyuan to act as bait as she's a heart patient.🧐😒🙄🤬 How is this any different from a green tea white lotus scenario seen commonly? There are trained police officers to do that and why does she have to risk her life and her family's by doing that? 🤔🫥And the foolish father of her's wants her to agree.🤬😡

The book is hard to read because of how infuriating the parents are. They are cowards who let their kids suffer and die just to maintain the peace. They get so bad that they might as well be their own kids' enemies.
