Pro : Urban setting, I love it Con : Everything else. TLDR : t's a combined of the bad things in formidable son in law Lucas gray with various Urban setting MCs like Chen Bei Xuan, Luo wuji, and geared towards young audience with the writing level of "Invisible dragon", one of the 7 forbidden literature. ------------- Let me break it down. I like the homecoming veteran in the modem setting troupe so I give this ago. Story is a standard "wargod" veteran homecoming and "son in law" troupe. MC was arrogant and unlikeable to most readers. It's use Western names but it feel like an urban Chinese novel instead with all those garbage courting death young masters and all of that elements in bad urban novel. Author padding the chapters with similar description about how awesome the MC was as a King of the north (author really obsessed with these title) whenever new people saw MC, up to three paragraphs and sometimes four or five. It's so cringe that author would describe how dig the bick of MC if he could. Story went downhill fast just from all free chapters. A 20 years old supreme commander of Super Special forces with eggs dressing who command hundreds of thousands of special forces soldiers, who intimidated 750 thousands enemies when he barged to their territory at 17 yo, so what could go wrong with this MC yes? lol. The Locked chapters were standard immortal in urban setting. Super rich people gave him money, He went to school, slaughter and slapped some people, become professor, made some research because how awesome he was, showing his hacking skills and did pretty much all those urban garbage. Slapping people left and right just like in all those shenhao novels. In every chapter, author will remind his/her "short attention span readers" that MC was highly respected by his men since he become general at age of 13, wargod at 17 and now the Northern King at 20 years old and also keep remind the readers that MC will slaughter the entire family of any people that touch people he cares. Many people did "touch" people he cares tough but he only delivered the threat to an insignificant villain's secretary by giving her a cringed death card who magically alert all of the soldiers under his command. Btw how he become OP were never mentioned in detail by the author. I dropped the story after it start getting more ridiculous.

Forgot to add that you need to do a better research for your geopolitics. For instance tthere are only one group of pirate in South East Asia and it was from Marawi , south philipine. Also Indonesia is far from the ocean route that any country use to go to China. Great theme but the implementation was sucks. Those early chapters were really awkward to read. He did badly with the jump around from first person to third person naration. Then it get better with ocasionally wikipedia copypaste info dump until MC Start using real poeple that he only know from wikipedia which were unreliable source to begin with and start shapping their characters to Author liking. There is a reason that most prominent writer only did that for cameo instead of including them in the main plot. The story went downhill fast after that and become so boring that I had to dropped it. On a side note, everybody hate cockroach villain with plot armor.

- I like the concept hut unfortunately the story was ruined with the fast pace at the begining. - Character development is laughable. - It wasn't Chinese mainland authpr but it has some of the most annoying thing that they often made which were overexplaining things, doesn't act like his real mental age and experience, and lastly adding to much elements and issues that convoluted the plot. I couldn't stand the MC that act like a severe bipolar patient so I drop this novel midway.

The author seems confused af and didn't have a good framework. He ditched the early system and start to adopt various concepT from other well known novels. With that, The author managed to take all the boring stuff and create the boring MC with boring plot that felt like reading an encyclopedia and sometimes a diary. The change of translator downgraded this novel even further. Don't waste your time with it

Came here just about to post a similar review and I saw yours. I binge read it till Solus betrayed the protector and uncovered to MC about the "death". I do like anti hero MC or even Villain one but this Novel's MC was to cringey for a 40 yo reincarnator.
