A spear, a weapon whoes strength is in distance, the spear is a weapon made for short combat with uninteligent non-humanoid races. Becuse the spear is often long at one side is often hevier it is dificult to counterbalace and is a bad weapon to use against inteligent races as it is easily parried with even a staff, due to its often 1d attack pattern. Thease faults can be worked around but often unless you are a hunter you should chose a halbeard to give yourself some slashing ability
I noticed that the weapons chosen by the main character are the same as in the novel; Hiro Ernest chooses the sword, Zion Maxwell chooses the spear, Sylvia Mavis chooses the bow and Lisa Kyelpas chooses Magic wand as a weapon.
