I personally like the second cheat because watching the MC's clear growth is very exciting. However, it is challenging to write as it might still end up making the MC overpowered by the mid or end of the story. It also requires meticulous writing to balance the growth progression like in a game. The first cheat is unique and easier to write but is less appealing to me.
