After my parents severed our mind-link for the 99th time, I walked into the Pack's archives, clutching the diagnosis for "Wolf Spirit Failure."
"Hello, I'd like to schedule my Banishment Ceremony in advance."
Ten minutes later, my parents rushed in with my adoptive sister, Isabella.
My father, Marcus, an Enforcer, slapped me the moment he entered, his glove dusted with silver powder.
"Have you no shame? Is this just another malicious ploy to steal Isabella's spotlight?"
My mother, Evelyn, a healer, snatched the diagnosis from my hand and scoffed. "So you've learned to forge diagnoses now. You've been a liar since you were a child."
Isabella tearfully grabbed their hands. "Dad, Mom, please don't blame Elara. I'll never mention becoming Luna again. Please, just get her to stop lying!"
I wiped away the black blood seeping from the corner of my mouth, my cheek burning from the silver, and turned back to the guardian of the archives.
