Kabanata 8: Colors
Colors are kind of really weird and fun. I took an interior design class, and a "fashion" class, and an art class that all talked about colors. ...also my astronomy class... all my random classes that talked about colors I took to assist in the creation of my stories and characters... Hmmm... I'll have to think on that more, and look into it. That seems a bit more than a coincidence to me.
But back to colors.
Say we just take the six base colors on the color wheel. (Just so we're all clear there are seven colors in the rainbow. Richard of York gave battle in vain, not Richard of York gave battle vainly. Indigo is a part of the rainbow and it's important. Also Pluto is a planet. Scientists and all their aesthetics can tell me nothing to convince me otherwise.) The six base colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple/violet (depending on the teacher).
They can be broken down evenly into primary and secondary colors.
Primary: red, yellow, blue
Secondary: orange, green, purple
They can also be broken down evenly into warm and cool colors. (There must be balance in all things.)
Warm: red, orange, yellow
Cool: green, blue, purple
I sometimes think about the relation between the two lists, because the warm list has two primary colors, red and yellow, outnumbering blue as the only cool primary color, leaving blue with only secondary colors as backup. (It's not a fight, but it definitely is.) But if you change your point of view, there is only one warm secondary color. The one you get from mixing red and yellow. (Yes I know it's orange.) The other two secondary colors are cool because the moment you mix red or yellow with blue, they make cool colors, proving blue's strength and restoring balance to the universe.
